Head of Data & Digital, Strategic Advisory

The Advisory, Programme and Delivery (APD) Unit plays a key role in the EUNA region and wider business, providing our clients with leadership and technical expertise in Project, Programme and Commercial Management (PPCM), specialist and strategic advisory services across all sectors for the EUNA region. The Unit is formed of over 1,500 people across 5 sector facing PPCM portfolios, with two growing Advisory portfolios - Specialist and Strategic – working across them.

Role Purpose

As Head of the Data & Digital consulting team you will be tasked with delivering growth through shaping both propositions and services, together with creating, leading, and nurturing a culture, structure and ways-of-working to facilitate a proactive, innovative, and high-performance environment across a team of circa 40 people.

As part of the of the Strategic Advisory leadership team, you will play an instrumental role in honing the value proposition for the Strategic Advisory business. You will contribute to the emerging architecture as we continue aligning and integrating a variety of capabilities through our wider growth agenda. You will be key in driving engagement and collaboration with the wider APD and Mott MacDonald business as to the value and opportunity that Strategic Advisory presents to our clients.

Using your expertise, you will develop the blueprint for the digital services, information technology and information management that deliver transformational change across client enterprises. The team will evolve and deliver compelling propositions across digital transformation advisory, enterprise data and information management, supported by wider by business change, strategic asset management and the opportunities presented across the value chain through cross-functional teams.

Key Accountabilities

• Build a strong and inclusive culture including people development and capability building, owning select client relationships to develop a strong pipeline of work (approx. 2 days/week)
• Lead and oversee fee earning commissions that also support team development and growth (approx. 3 days/week)
• Design and develop the service line and its enablers, responding to market and client requirements across organisational structure, decision making governance and business process.
• Oversee the development of a clear growth strategy for the capabilities, such that we increasingly become our clients preferred trusted advisor.
• Understand and enhance our existing go-to-market strategies for long-term success.
• Engage target clients and Mott MacDonald’s wider business representatives to build awareness of existing and new service offerings and solutions.
• Seek out new prospects and convert opportunities into projects in a managed pipeline, together with encouraging your team to collaborate with Accounts Leads.
• Lead the preparation and presentation of responses to requests for proposals, from initial bid strategy and positioning through submission and client interviews.
• Engage with client executives, directing the shaping of strategies that enhance organisational asset management decisions that also maximise client resilience.
• Manage, mentor and support the development of the team.
• Challenge the norm and drive innovative ways of delivering outstanding experiences.
• Hold accountability for successful business operations through project delivery– to quality, time and cost.

Experience and Capabilities

• A people and business leader with a demonstrable experience of growing and delivering a highly effective consultancy offering.
• Significant knowledge in digital and data services consulting leadership, strategy, and its implementation across an organisation.
• Subject-matter specialist across digital change management, information technology and management advisory.
• Experience of at least one of Transportation, Energy, Water, Built Environment or Social Infrastructure markets.
• Client led relationship management approach, able to understand, solve and deliver against client challenges, resulting in a solid track record of creating opportunities and winning new work.
• Understands and applies the vital leadership, capability and cultural components that drive the people element of service offerings and be able to articulate the value that this brings.
• An open minded, assertive, collaborative attitude; a strong sense of team spirit; vision driven.
• Adaptable, versatile and agile with the ability to respond rapidly and effectively to challenges in a matrix environment.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality, trust, and strong business ethics.
• Demonstrable passion for business change advisory and delivering built environment transformation.


Location:
London, Leeds, Birmingham, Manchester, Glasgow, Cardiff or Cambridge, though a UK nationwide position is an option and would require travel.
