About Motorway

Motorway is the UK’s fastest-growing used car marketplace – our award-winning, online-only platform connects private car sellers with thousands of verified dealers nationwide, ensuring everyone gets the best deal. Founded in 2017, our technology-led approach has redefined the experience of selling a car, generating thousands of monthly car sales and helping us to grow to a team of more than 400 people across our London and Brighton offices.

About the role

Motorway is seeking an experienced Director of Growth Marketing to oversee marketing efforts across our two-sided marketplace.

Reporting to the Chief Marketing Officer, you will own the growth marketing strategy, planning, and execution across all touchpoints (Paid acquisition, Affiliate, SEO, Content, CRM, and Lifecycle) to drive acquisition, engagement, and revenue. You will be responsible for multi-million-pound budgets in a high-impact, highly visible, strategic role that touches both sides of our marketplace.

You will be responsible for building and leading a multidisciplinary team, providing strategic leadership, fostering a high-performance, collaborative team culture, and ensuring functional excellence. You’ll develop the team, lead with an experimentation mindset, and manage the acquisition P&L.

We are looking for an excellent leader and team player who can lead by example, collaborate with other functions in the marketing organisation, and partner with key stakeholders, including Product, Sales, FP&A, Data Analytics, and our in-house Creative team.

This is a unique opportunity to join an exceptional team in a fast-paced and rewarding environment that is transforming the used-car market.

  • Lead the development of growth and performance marketing teams and cross-functional collaborations to drive acquisition and engagement.
  • Implement best practices for experimentation, analysis, and reporting.
  • Establish spend models that enable optimal allocation for ROI and positive management of media spend.
  • Establish key metrics for acquisition, conversion, and revenue success, develop dashboards with the analytics team, and monitor and report regularly to leadership & key stakeholders across the organisation.
  • Manage and grow vendor relationships and develop integrated solutions across all performance marketing channels: search, social, third-party networks, and programmatic.
  • Drive CRM & lifecycle marketing efforts across different levers to retain and re-engage customers.
  • Drive personalisation efforts of lifecycle communications in partnership with product, design, data and analytics.
  • Own cross-functional projects in partnership with product, data analytics, design, and research to create and implement new experiences that meaningfully drive growth.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated marketing experience in B2C and B2B businesses with a focus on performance and growth marketing.
  • Deep understanding and experience in all aspects of Performance Marketing, including Paid Search, Affiliate Marketing, Paid Social, and Programmatic Display.
  • Must have knowledge of Google, Youtube, and Meta.
  • Built and executed with full ownership of multi-million-pound budgets and developed models and approaches for investment and measurement.
  • Experience in a highly analytical, data-intensive, and/or strategic role.
  • Proven ability to prioritise and execute tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to leverage analytics and work with complex datasets to understand performance, optimise campaigns, drive decision-making, and measure outcomes.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proven ability to drive both top and bottom-line results.
  • Experience in holistic growth planning - research, forecasting, planning, execution, and performance analysis.
  • Familiarity with a range of martech and analytics tools.
