Bournville Manufacturing is the home of the UK’s most iconic confectionary brand, Cadbury’s. We are now looking for a Process Engineer to join us at the heart of our manufacturing operations within different areas of the plant.

Process Engineers play an important role in the department, maintaining systems and performing tasks and activities that support our continuous improvement (CI) processes and culture. Process Engineers become experts in the technologies of our lines as well as supporting data collection, ensuring its accuracy, executing CI projects, supporting root cause analysis to resolve line issues, and keeping track of the department KPI scorecards.

How You Will Contribute

Drive process reliability and stability by solving the chronic problems on the line:

  • Understand and analyse process variability, root causes, and define systems to eliminate them.

  • Design and define critical process parameters and centrelines; track and ensure adherence to them.

  • Give technical confirmation to any request or project proposal that affects the process or equipment.

  • Looking for innovation opportunities between several teams with a willingness to experiment and to boldly confront problems of large complexity and scope.

Process data gathering and issues analysis:

  • Implement and maintain systems to collect, collate and analyse data on key process parameters.

  • Identify and prioritise process capability issues for performance or quality.

  • Coach and teach the team to solve these issues.

Improve process capability and quality:

  • Identify problems in existing products or processes and proposing solutions.

  • Take responsibility for implementation by leading and coaching the line teams.

  • Solve technical problems of the highest scope, complexity, and ambiguity.

  • Facilitate root-cause analysis to address identified losses and departmental KPI scorecard gaps.

  • Establish new work standards to sustain improvements.

  • Ensure there is a high level of technical competence within the operating team.

The Manufacturing Process Engineer will be the owner of all data collection and analysis in their area with the expectation to maintain, optimise and improve all aspects of performance using CI tools.

What you will bring

A desire to drive your future and accelerate your career and the following experience and knowledge:

  • Proven track record within Manufacturing.

  • Educated to degree or equivalent level in Engineering or Manufacturing.

  • Demonstrated strong interpersonal collaboration skills.

  • Ability to influence technicians, engineering resources and line leads, as required.

  • Strong communication skills at all levels of the organisation with the ability to coach and train others.

  • Strong technical skills, with the ability to manipulate and validate data and information.

  • Shop floor credibility is important.

  • Knowledge of CI processes.

  • Strong facilitation skills to support team discussions on CI activities.

  • Application of lean and/or TPM tools in a factory or operations environment.

  • Organized and disciplined to support and educate on the Daily Management System process.

  • Logical and structured thinking to extract insights from data.

Would also benefit from:

  • Six Sigma Green Belt trained

  • Knowledge of process machinery

  • Knowledge of safe working practices and current industry standard
