Life in Research, Development, Quality (RDQ):-
As an intern at Mondelēz International you will be responsible and fully accountable for a given project from start to finish. During the placement you will be expected to plan and develop computer models related to your project and carry out/manage supporting experiments; produce technical reports/ presentations and periodically communicate your key findings to stakeholders. You will also have the opportunity to interact with other departments within the RDQ (some 2500 employees) and the wider business. In addition to this you may also be expected to support other ongoing project activities in and outside your immediate team.
The Role:
The Modelling and Simulation team is an organisation of professionals who translate complex technical challenges into computer simulations to enable rapid, high quality innovation across our chocolate, biscuit, gum & candy categories. There are 2 parts to the team Physical Science and Data Science. The Physical Science team build models based on first principals using commercial software tools including CFD, FEA and DEM. The second part is the Data Science team. Here models are built up based on data collected from the physical processes. The position is for a place in the Physical Sciences team at our Bournville location.
In this role you will (with help and guidance from the team) use appropriate software tools to build simulations, including model construction, meshing, solvers, and post-processing. Ensure simulations are validated against experimental data, this may include running or managing the experiments or trials required. You will communicate outputs from the simulation and work to engineering and RDQ teams to ensure learning is embedded in the business quickly to speed up innovation and optimisation

Candidate Requirements:
Studying towards an Engineering or other scientific discipline
2:1 degree - predicted end result (or equivalent)
Self-drive and motivation
Naturally inquisitive and passionate about technical excellence and sciences and can apply fundamental knowledge practically
Can work with a level of autonomy, as well as works well in a team
Demonstrates strong analytical, communication and presentation abilities
Pro-active, highly motivated, ready to take on new responsibilities and build strong relationships
Organisation and planning skills
Good working knowledge of MS Office
Starting salary: £23,000
Closing date for applications is midday Monday 4th November 2024.
We will be holding our final stage assessment centre for this role in-person at our Bournville offices on Tuesday 3rd and Wednesday 4th December 2024. Reasonable travel expenses will be covered.
