You will be crucial in developing and maintaining the existing R&D data infrastructure, whilst exploring and implementing new technologies/capabilities to enhance efficiency. You will work with various stakeholders to determine how to use business data for business solutions/insights.

How you will contribute

Partner with R&D's Lead Data Engineer and cross-functional stakeholders to understand data needs, and design and implement robust data engineering solutions for R&D

Translate business requirements into scalable and reusable data model

Provide guidance and support to R&D on best practices for data engineering and data management

Stay updated on emerging trends and technologies in data engineering, sharing insights and best practices with relevant stakeholders

Proactively identify opportunities for process improvement and contribute to overall organisational efficiency and productivity

Collaborate with IT to:

  • assess and optimise the performance of R&D's data pipelines, ensuring efficiency and scalability
  • ensure that R&D data engineering solutions adhere to organisational architecture and strategies
  • identify data assets/systems, explore the data to and create MVPs presenting business value for commercialization
  • support the Data Scientists within the Digital CoE with the data engineering and exploration
  • monitor the performance of implemented data engineering solutions and make necessary adjustments to optimise effectiveness
  • Research, evaluate and, where possible, integrate advanced data engineering tools and platforms to enhance data processing and accessibility within R&D
  • integrate new data engineering solutions seamlessly into existing systems, ensuring compatibility and scalability

Education / Certifications:

A BS or MS degree in a technical field, including Data Science, Mathematics, Computer Science, Physics, etc

Job specific requirements:

  • At least six years of experience in data engineering, preferably within a similar function or industry.
  • Experience with data engineering tools and platforms such as Spark, Databricks and cloud-platforms like AWS, Azure or Google Cloud
  • Experience with data modelling tools, preferably Erwin
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, interpersonal and collaborative skills, and the ability to communicate clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to prioritise tasks and manage timelines effectively.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic environment.
  • Analytical mindset with a keen attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Commitment to continuous learning and staying updated on industry trends and best practices.
