Reading Scientific Services Ltd (RSSL) is a cutting-edge Contract Research Organisation (CRO), providing research, analysis and consultancy to the life science, healthcare and food sectors.
The RSSL laboratories perform a wide range of analytical analyses for a variety of food, pharmaceutical and healthcare companies and support Mondelez research and innovation.
The multi laboratory project coordinator role is responsible for the overall smooth running of project workflow from the point of booking into the LIMS through to project closure. This role is responsible for tracking the progress of all multi-lab projects to ensure that results are issued on or before the project due date. Strong communication skills are essential to coordinate testing requirements and information exchange between the laboratories and to keep clients informed of any issues or delays.
The position is an operational role which will be primarily based at the Reading location although may require attendance of any of the RSSL sites.
Primary Accountabilities / Responsibilities
Technical
Provide high quality customer service at all times by ensuring effective organisation of all multi-lab projects across all RSSL sites
Coordination between laboratory schedulers to ensure that samples which cannot be subsampled are scheduled appropriately to ensure that turnaround times are adhered to
Ensure that the LIMS is kept up to date at all times and that clients and other involved laboratories are informed of any delays to their projects in a timely manner
Remind and/or chase laboraties ahead of due dates to confirm that multi-lab projects are on track to deliver to clients on time
Facilitate adherence to project milestones and ensure that the issuing lab is aware of their responsibilities
Support with ensuring that LIMS billing plans are correct and that the format of certificates of analysis is correct ahead of release
Provide training and support to assigned deputies
Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities to improve workflow
Communication & Influence
Work as part of a multi-disciplinary, multi-site team
Liase with clients, business development and laboratories to ensure effective delivery of multi-lab projects
Provide regular updates to stakeholders on MLP performance and statistics
Participate in client and stake holders meetings as required
Leadership and supervision
Plan and optimise workload to meet client expectations
Train assigned deputies in the role responsibilities to provide cover for absence
QEHS
Work to the highest standards of safety and quality by ensuring that appropriate COSHHs, risk assessments and SOPs are understood and followed
Complete assigned quality actions in a timely manner
Assist with the documentation of SOPs and generation of Risk Assesments and COSHH
Maintain a clean, tidy and safe working environment
Understand and work to the requirements of GMP and UKAS
Ensure training records are accurate.
Knowledge, Skills, Experience and Language Requirements
Educated to Degree or PhD in a relevant scientific discipline or equivalent relevant experience in a laboratory.
Accountable, honest, hardworking and able to work efficiently in a team
Flexible and adaptable to meet customer/business requirements.
Well organised and capable of working on multiple activities concurrently.
Meticulous attention to detail
Good verbal and written skills with the ability to communicate with client’s and colleagues
Self motivated, enthusiastic and quick to learn
Able to organise own work and others to maximise output
Experience of working in a laboratory and good understanding of lab equipment is preferred
Computer literate in standard MS office applications
Experience of working in a regulated environment.
English fluency (written and spoken)
