We are now looking for an experienced Business Development Manager who is responsible for the development of business supporting our Microbiology and Sterile Manufacturing suite of analytical services . This is a key leadership role to acquire new customers and also support existing key accounts. The Laboratories are based in Reading and the role will require travel to site to meet with internal stakeholders, clients as well as travel to client facilities and events as required mainly in the UK, Ireland and Europe.

How you will contribute

  • Responsible for the Microbiology and Sterile Manufacturing portfolio of services – finding new customers and managing existing customers
  • Lead the sales process from prospecting to closure, meetings, and exceeding sales targets.
  • Provide regular sales forecasts for commercial pipeline management and operations teams to resource to.
  • Negotiate and close business opportunities and be recognised for building trust within RSSL and with clients.
  • Leverage existing connections and continually build a network within the industry, by actively participating in networking events, industry conferences, and professional associations to expand our business network.
  • Prospect for new customers and continue lead generation activities to identify new opportunities.
  • Build relationships with customers of all sizes, from start-ups to larger organisations
  • Develop effective sales tools, presentations, and collateral to enhance the sales process.
  • Cultivate and nurture relationships with key clients, leveraging security expertise to understand and address their unique needs
  • Devise and implement comprehensive business strategies to drive growth and enhance market presence.
  • Analyse market trends, competitor activities, and customer needs to identify strategic business opportunities and collaborate with the marketing department to identify and execute relevant campaigns and promotions
  • Grow and drive sales of the Microbiology services to achieve sales goals for the assigned territory.
  • Gather and communicate relevant market information to the Head of Commericial
  • Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures.

What you will bring

A desire to drive your future and accelerate your career and the following experience and knowledge:

  • Educated to degree level in a Scientific subject area
  • Knowledge of Analytical Microbiology CRO/CDMO services essential and Sterile Manufacturing preferable
  • Previous experience in business development within a CRO/CDMO or pharma company resulting in a demonstrable understanding of the pharma industry.
  • Successful track record in selling of GMP products/services
  • Knowledge of the global Life Science market place is preferred
  • Proven track record of bringing in new business and cultivating new business and managing key accounts.
  • Excellent communication and presentation abilities.
  • Excellent verbal and writing command in English language.
  • Software skills, Office, SAP.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Team player.
  • Business attire, commercial mindset.
  • Entrepreneurial self-starter (ability to work independently and manager one’s time).
