How you will contribute

Working in a cross-functional environment, you will collaborate with global and regional teams to serve as a bridge between R&D portfolio strategy and development. The Product Owner assumes responsibility for governing and implementing digital initiatives, translating business needs into functional, technical, and data requirements. You will define the R&D portfolio management digital and technical roadmap that establishes a robust, scalable, and supported infrastructure and solutions, contributing to the strategic alignment and efficient execution of portfolio management strategy.

To succeed in this role, you must possess a solid understanding of R&D portfolio management, optimization, and road mapping principles, along with hands-on experience in developing and implementing solutions and effectively interacting with senior management. Through this comprehensive approach, the Product Owner aims to enhance the overall effectiveness and impact of the R&D Portfolio Management solution, ensuring it aligns seamlessly with business objectives and provides a valuable and user-friendly experience.

What you need to know about this position:

The Global Product Owner, Portfolio Management is a member of the Mondelez Digital Services (MDS) Digital R&D team. The resource will be expected to

  • Demonstrate a deep understanding Idea to Market (I2M) and a good understanding of Integrated Business Planning (IBP) areas, comprehensively grasp business needs, and identify challenges within Portfolio Management. Translate business requirements into a backlog of functionalities for design and development.
  • Proactively comprehend, prioritize, and execute the roadmap for Global Total Portfolio Management and Reporting (GCP, PBI, Tableau) capabilities. Take charge of the Integrated to Market (I2M) & Portfolio Management governance, ensuring high-quality data across Portfolio Management tools (Accolade). Uphold harmonized data taxonomy and ensure high data integrity
  • Assume responsibility for the governance and prioritization of development and solution changes.
  • Lead a team of developers, implement best Agile and DevOps practices, and drive the evolution to DevOps, incorporating automated testing, clear user story definitions, and continuous improvement of sprint velocity.
  • Manage the overall resourcing strategy and oversee all solution changes.
  • Supervise certain outsourced applications (SaaS) and vendors. Collaborate with cross-functional business partners to maintain a harmonized approach (Total Cost of Ownership, Security, Integration, Architecture) for delivering products.
  • Collaborate closely with business stakeholders to identify issues impacting end-users. Drive necessary systemic fixes to mitigate future risks.
  • Supporting collaboration with global and regional teams to optimize and integrate data and applications across Mondelez R&D Technical Centers, translating business needs into functional, technical, and data requirements.
  • Support various R&D Technical Centers strategic initiatives and incorporate related data where needed into R&D models and solutions.

  • Demonstrates strong Agile, Scrum, and project management skills to oversee the product backlog, ensure quality user stories are written, and ensure that products are fit for purpose to drive business needs.
  • Possesses an excellent working knowledge of portfolio management, resourcing and workflow systems, data, and business processes.
  • Shows a solid understanding of digital solutions and data analysis supporting Portfolio Management (i.e., portfolio, financials, resourcing) strategies, data, and integration.
  • Has the ability to work across globally distributed, cross-functional teams to understand new business requirements/gaps and design new solutions.
  • Translates business needs into functional and technical requirements. Partners with Enterprise Architecture to define and approve the solutions required to achieve business outcomes, including how to measure success.
  • Technical, infrastructure, and data skills and business acumen to support the development of technology and capability changes.
  • Ensures system integrity, security, and design are upheld and changes are verified.
  • Manages initiatives with third-party external partners/vendors to build, test, and deploy technical/application solutions.
  • Demonstrates the ability to succinctly write functional specifications for integration, data access, analytics, or solution implementation.
  • Collaborates with the business, relevant partners (internal, external), and stakeholders to ensure project and operational performance is met.
  • Promotes new and better ways of delivering solutions, specifically building DevOps capability in

Education / Certifications:

· Degree in Data Management, IT, Computer Science or equivalent

· Proven professional experience, preferably in Data Management / Data transformation, ideally in the consumer goods industry

· Proven experience in Agile

· DAMA certifications or equivalent data certification is a plus!

Job specific requirements:

· Proven experience of portfolio management and reporting, including a track record of success.

· Demonstrated experience in collaborating with business functions on transformation initiatives.

· Established experience in managing products effectively.

· Solid technology knowledge, particularly in the relevant technologies of choice.

· SCRUM and practical Agile experience to facilitate efficient project management.

· Understanding of DevOps practices and the ability to implement them within product teams.

· Excellent communication skills.

· Proven technical experience working in GCP, PBI, Tableau, or similar Innovation Portfolio systems.

Travel requirements: Limited (up to 10%) - adhoc travel aligned to project needs, typically office based, with travel to London, Reading and other offices

Work schedule:

Full-time, flexible - resource will be supporting global initiatives across the business.
