Microsoft's CO+I team is seeking a Datacenter Engineering Procurement Construction (EPC) Sub-region Cost Lead to provide services for UK & Ireland.

Responsibilities

Deep understanding of end to end construction commercial management from liaison with our procurement office on the Request for Proposal (RFP) documents through to the final payments and agreement of the final accounts and paperwork. This will also include :

  • Reports to the EPC Regional Cost Management Lead
  • Develop and maintain strong collaborative relationships with sub-regional EPC and project controls leads to drive project success
  • Provide leadership to the sub-region and drive cost management standards and own sub-regional alignment with standard process
  • Implementation into sub-region all global cost & project controls initiatives
  • Management and notification of monthly funding requests
  • Ensure commercial onboarding of new vendors and colleagues at project and sub-regional level
  • Ensure close alignment with EPC and project controls sub-regionals including feedback loop to estimating
  • Own the resolution of sub-region cost & commercial escalations and/or project specific requests
  • Detailed estimation of the project based on local design documents.
  • Agreement of estimates with the GC at during design development and agreement of the contract sum.
  • Pay application assessment and approval for the GC, all equipment vendors and all project support consultants.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying or related field
  • Demonstrable experience of working in a matrix environments within large organizations
  • Proven experience of commercial management role on a major construction portfolio

Other Requirements:

  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
  • Commercial knowledge of construction internationally
  • MS excel proficiency
  • Excellent communication skills, experience collaborating with all other areas of the datacenter program with an ability to think strategically and build the trust of our construction partners needed to agree very large construction contracts and final accounts

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) full membership or equivalent
