Microsoft Azure Edge + Platform (E+P) is a globally distributed team of engineers, architects, program managers, product managers, business program managers, business administrators, user experience researchers and designers who are responsible for the platform for Microsoft and for delivering Microsoft’s edge vision. We create the most reliable and trustworthy OS and platform services to empower Microsoft and our customers to achieve more. We unlock the next wave of opportunity at the edge through an at-scale ecosystem driving widespread adoption of our Microsoft cloud services.

The Edge Workload Security team has a mission to create a secure platform foundation for consistent Cloud/Edge experiences and to support all services and applications running on top of the platform. The team builds platform security capabilities for workloads running on a K8s (Kubernetes) platform including authentication, authorization, secret management, and protection with a goal to provide consistent and convenient API experiences for developers. The team also owns an authentication platform for Windows platform based products and builds features to strengthen the protection on these products.

Our team is seeking a Software Engineer to join us. You will have the chance to design and develop platform features supporting a wide spectrum of Microsoft products. You will support the team by designing, prototyping and developing new security features, testing and validating solutions, code reviews, and supporting customer issues.

Responsibilities

  • Work with stakeholders to determine user requirements and incorporate feedback for a set of features. Coordinate with partner teams to define and optimise dependencies fitting the needs of partners and customers through product development as well as resolving issues.
  • Lead architectural discussions for products and test suites, creating and testing proposals to develop strong designs and identify dependencies, meeting requirements and security standards. Leverage subject-matter experts to drive projects.
  • Drive telemetry, SLA and release processes to maintain products and identify enhancements and customer issues.
  • Lead by example, producing extensible, maintainable and optimised code Review team code to ensure standards are followed.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline AND Extensive years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
    OR equivalent experience.
  • Experience in developing for, configuring and administering Kubernetes clusters
  • Experience in developing for, configuring and administering Linux / Ubuntu.
  • Experience in Go language development.

Preferred:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND Extensive years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
    • OR Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND Extensive years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • Experience in Azure services development.

Cloud Background check:
Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role.

Microsoft Cloud Background Check:
This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
