As a Senior Principal Technical Consultant, you will focus on understanding Customer and Partner technical environments and deployment using project management methodologies and practice development as a trusted advisor to internal and external stakeholders. You will be responsible for shaping and executing projects by gathering insights and working with various stakeholders. You will be responsible for architecture design and implementation by leading a team in delivery, defining and documenting architecture, generating intellectual property and developing a network of relationships, initiating community events, and mentoring colleagues.

Responsibilities

  • You will be passionate about delivering technical excellence. You will be comfortable interacting with external decision makers, delivering technical design workshops translating business need to technical capability across the Azure solution portfolio. You’ll also be comfortable handling the breadth of architectural governance, designing and building hands-on solution implementation alongside a team of consultants ranging from Associate to Principal.
  • Comfortable delivering as the technical lead for your technology area e.g. Application Development, DevOps & Infrastructure, or Data Platforms, with understanding of commercial responsibilities to aligning technical delivery to Programme milestones, being accountable to the Programme Management for the technical risks involved.
  • Within our internal teams you will be an advisor, mentor and community member, supporting initiatives to deepen our technical expertise within the UK Consulting community and your industry vertical. You will have opportunities to work with our account teams to deepen the relationships between sales and delivery, reach across into our product group to access our engineers building the solutions to bring One Microsoft to our customers.
  • This role focuses on delivery of some of the largest programmes of work in the UK, driving account growth by understanding business requirements and providing industry and technical input and/or solution offerings to help shape the deal. Techincal accountability for drafting proposals and/or statement of work (SOW).
  • You will define and document the architecture through an architecture description document, an architecture decisions log, and a requirements/constraints traceability matrix to communicate the value proposition of the business solution along with the project approach.
  • You will generate new and/or improvements to existing intellectual property as well as anticipate and address organization and industry-wide gaps, patterns, and needs to drive change.
  • You will develop a deep network of internal/external relationships with senior-level decision makers at high-impact customers/partners to build influence in addressing problems/blockers and facilitate additional views on the matter of interest.
  • You will initiate and drive developer and architectural community events (e.g., conferences, seminars, technical meetups, Webcasts, blogs, hackathons) and serve as an industry-leading expert and advisor to external stakeholders and a recognized thought leader internally.
  • You will be a mentor to less experienced colleagues by educating them on technical and non-technical concepts and sharing best practices and of the broader organization and provide thought leadership by sharing deep insight and driving critical decisions that impact Microsoft and the industry.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field AND extensive years of experience in technology solutions, practice development, architecture, consulting, and/or technology domain (e.g., Security)
  • OR Master's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field AND Substantial years of experience in technology solutions, practice development, architecture, consulting, and/or technology domain (e.g., Security)
  • OR equivalent experience
  • Extensive experience leading complex technical programs taking architectural ownership and developing a team of engineers to deliver customer outcomes against business priorities
  • Technical sales experience
  • People leadership and management experience, this role does not require direct people management
  • Delivery experience working in feature teams developing Secure-By-Design, Cloud Native Applications in C# with recent experience working with Containers, Test Driven Development and Behaviour Driven Development, delivering using Agile and SCRUM principles. As well as experience with Azure DevOps including designing and deploying CI/CD Pipelines for containerization.
  • Experience designing enterprise scale intelligent data platforms, MLOps and productionizing AI solutions including LLMs, custom ML
  • Languages such as Python and C# desired.
