Microsoft Cloud Operations + Innovation (CO+I) is the engine that powers Microsoft's cloud services and our team is focused on delivering high quality infrastructure to support cloud operations. As Microsoft’s Cloud business continues to mature, our infrastructure expansion accelerates, and Data Centers are central to this growth. To support this, the acquisition and development of our owned, designed, and constructed Data Center facilities will scale to meet the demands of our customers, while we also continue to lease and acquire Data Center capacity at pace, particularly in our high growth markets, working closely with Data Center operators in each region, and across the Globe.
The Lease Construction Manager is accountable for driving data centre construction/integration activities on local/campus projects and to provide key input on all data centre fit-out related activities, leveraging experiences and technical knowledge to ensure sound and data-driven decisions. Review engineering documentation/designs, site, and building plans by examining and analysing technical information. Facilitates the delivery of local projects by making timely data-based decisions in partnership with local project teams and stakeholders. Confirms the scoped resources are available for the job. Provides specific project data supporting cost and key performance indicator metrics, invoices, processes, and policies in order to communicate status to client partners. Attends and advises during scheduled owner/architect/contractor and other project meetings. Collaborates with internal teams to maintain the corporate vision and goals for the project. Represents Microsoft as a safety leader and advocate onsite ensuring adherence to safety standards and regulatory requirements to ensure compliance and aggressive management of risk. Reviews and assists with developing risk mitigation activities and communicating metrics, dashboards and/or scorecards to track and drive progress. Assists with the monitoring of vendor and/or contractor performance, ensuring compliance with contracts and prior audit results.
Responsibilities
- Management of resources/talents assigned to the project (CSA/MEP Superintendent, Quality Manager, Energy Marshall, Logistic Coordinator/Project Engineer and ITIM)
- Working in collaboration with other site personnel for expeditious timely resolution of field queries, issues, and challenges Microsoft Confidential
- Delivery of the project to the expectations of Safety, Quality, Predictable Cost and Schedule as per the approved project SLAs.
- Hold GC and contracted vendors accountable to their contracted deliverables.
- Perform site walks every day and track project’s progress on schedule, quality, and safety. Work closely with the site safety lead and contractors to reinforce safety culture at site.
- Manage, monitor, and accountable for the construction scope, progress, execution, schedule, and cost as per approved baseline document.
- Ensure that all CSA and MEP works meet the highest quality standards and comply with relevant codes, regulations, and specifications
- Demonstrate visible leadership in the field by walking the jobsite daily to ensure compliance with safety, quality and schedule and progress. • Work closely with the quality lead to document, report, and reinforce non-conformance remediations and resolution of issues.
- Maintain accurate records of all construction activities, including daily logs, progress reports, change orders, and as-built drawings. This documentation is essential for tracking project milestones, identifying areas for improvement, and resolving disputes.
- Support commissioning, start-up, troubleshooting and handover of the project to operations team.
Qualifications
- Degree or Equivalent professional accreditation in Construction Management, Electrical/Mechanical Engineering or Architecture
- On-site construction management experience over concurent data centres
- MEP experience
- Understanding of construction schedules and risks associated with delivery
- Strong construction Health and Safety knowledge
