Job Description

The Xbox team is looking for a Senior Communications Manager for Xbox in the UK and Ireland. As part of the Microsoft Global Communications team, you will join a group of professionals focused on telling the stories that help people fall in love with Xbox games, Xbox services & devices, and the positive impact Xbox gaming will have in the world.

In this position, you will be responsible for storytelling around the gaming business that will grow adoption of gaming products and services across the UK and Ireland. You will also drive consumer excitement and thought leadership for Xbox, delivering bold and creative communications campaigns in one of the most important markets outside the US. This role will also manage local gaming corporate issues as they arise to protect the Xbox brand, liaising with regional and global comms counterparts.

The role is based in the UK and is also a part of the UK extended Microsoft Communications team.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with global communications leaders on the strategic development of communications materials and deployment of communications tactics focused on critical priority areas.
  • Develop, review, and edit content for internal and external audiences, including executive briefing materials, media engagements and PR driven events.
  • Review scripting/messaging for internal keynotes, presentations, social media, and events.
  • Lead and manage an agency team (which is integrated with an EMEA agency team) as integral members of our extended communications team.
  • Develop and drive stories in fresh ways that generate positive perceptions towards Microsoft gaming and Xbox in the UK and Ireland, based on informed knowledge of the local media and content creator landscape as well as data and insights.
  • Activate local event media relations inclusive of executive communications support for leaders in attendance.
  • Conceptualize and develop content to educate, guide, and advise internal stakeholders, customers, or partners on local communications strategy and tactics.
  • Anticipate and mitigate factors that impact reputation in the market and address potential reputational risk.
  • Act as a leader and trusted advisor to UK and EMEA marketing and sales leadership.
  • Collaborate with gaming industry associations such as UKIE to respond to cultural and societal topics which impact the perception of gaming.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Business Administration, Marketing, Communications, Finance, or related field AND relevant years Communications, Marketing Operations, Field Operations, Program Management, Project Management, or related experience OR equivalent experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting senior executives.
  • Extensive, demonstrated experience in managing external and internal communications.
  • Successful track record of working with external agencies to drive communication strategy and execution.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within a team and across organizational boundaries.
  • Proven track record for new, innovative approaches and smart risk taking.
  • Strategic thinking and counsel.
  • Audience understanding.
  • Executive presence and ability to work with highly confidential information.
