Job Description

Within CO+I, Data Center Delivery (DCD) is responsible for the delivery of Hyper Scale Data Centers for the Microsoft’s cloud business. Within DCD, the Datacenter Construction Build Management (DCBM) team are responsible for DC IT Fit out and Lease Construction delivery.

The Datacentre Build Management Sub Region lead for UK and Ireland will lead a diverse and high performing team responsible for the delivery of leased datacenters in the Sub Region. This person will be a leader in the adoption and delivery of MSFTs Health and Safety, Quality and Ethical standards and collaborate with our Commissioning and Operations Teams on site to deliver safe, world class Datacentre Projects.

The UK and Ireland DCBM Sub-Region lead will be responsible for managing the overall sub-regional program delivery, ensuring alignment with both organizational and business priorities and commitments with a focused emphasis on delivering capacity Safely, Ethically, Reliably, and Predictably.

Responsibilities

The key competencies and responsibilities of the role include but are not limited to the following:

  • In cooperation with the EMEA DCBM Regional Director and other Sub-Regional DCBM Leaders this position aligns global, regional and metro level delivery strategies to local team objectives, business processes, vendor management strategies, and cross-group collaboration efforts.
  • The role is responsible for coordinating internal Microsoft scope and resource efforts, requirements, and schedules with those of the General Contractor, Lessors, Owned Vendors and Suppliers. The role ensures a smooth and timely handover of the Data Centre facility and capacity to the Microsoft Operations team and Business Groups.
  • Provide thoughtful leadership and direction, ensuring the highest performance and quality within our EMEA delivery program.
  • Support, grow and develop a team of DCBM professionals including identification and management of vendor and Full Time Employee resourcing needs in region. Hire, on-board, manage and develop diverse talent across the Region in line with demand and workload needs.
  • Establish, manage, and measure against all regional commitments and performance targets (Safety, Quality, Schedule, & Cost).
  • Define regional metrics that ensure everyone is working towards the same goals and commitments as well as promotes success criteria, learning, and growth opportunities for all team members.
  • Ensure that all team members understand objectives and work together to achieve regional and project level goals/commitments.
  • Coordinate closely with regional program stakeholders and datacenter operations teams to foster alignment and partnerships for business continuity and overall team success.
  • Assist and communicate accordingly with Leadership and Senior Leadership any regional program delivery challenges or issues.

The successful candidate will be a relentless advocate for managing a safe worksite, supporting the implementation of the Microsoft High Risk Activity (HRA) program and work with our Construction PM and General Contractor groups to deliver trade collaboration methods to improve safe working and co-ordination of the construction sites.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, electrical engineering, construction management or similar field experience.
  • Have a Construction Management, Architectural or MEP background.
  • Solid experience in IT infrastructure and/or construction related project management.
  • Client and/or Contractor side onsite Datacenter construction or project management experience.
  • Self-starter with demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, projects, and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Experience managing large scale enterprise projects with both localized and virtual teams.
  • Cross-group collaborator and influencer across teams and organizations with proven success in participating in cross-functional teams to deliver on key projects.
  • Must be able to work within a dynamic team of full-time employees and consultants.
