Job Description

Microsoft's Azure Research is seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Researcher to work with us on principled solutions to security and privacy challenges in AI-based systems. We are interested in methods at all layers of the stack, including applications, models, runtimes, and hardware.

Our team in Cambridge, UK conducts pioneering research in the design and analysis of systems that guarantee strong security, safety, and privacy properties to cloud users, and in novel applications that are enabled by emerging security and privacy technology.

As part of our team, you will have the opportunity to work in close collaboration with research and product teams, to advance the state-of-the-art and have impact in production. Please look at our webpage for more information about our team and its current focus areas.

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will undertake cutting-edge research on mechanisms to ensure the security, safety, and privacy of AI-based systems, including the development of theory, research prototypes, and experimentation. They will work with product groups to identify opportunities for impact and share their findings via publications in top academic venues.

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications:

An ideal candidate has the following qualifications.

  • Background in machine learning, AI, systems, or programming languages;
  • Familiarity with state-of-the-art practices and methodologies in AI security, safety, and privacy;
  • Track record in research, as evidenced by high-quality publications;
  • Software development skills and experience, preferably with Python and PyTorch;
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team and present research findings to both technical and non-technical audiences.
