Position: Veterinary Surgeon – Building A Better World for Pets at Mars

Location: Waltham on the Wolds

Salary: £50,000 - £60,000 + 12% bonus + 15% shift allowance

What are we looking for?

If you’re a qualified and enthusiastic Veterinary Surgeon with membership in the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons, let’s talk!

  • Recent, relevant clinical experience and confidence in general practice (medical and surgical).
  • The ability to thrive both independently and in a dynamic, larger team environment.
  • A background in population medicine (preferred), with research experience or shelter medicine knowledge as a plus.
  • Experience in training or line management—ideal but not essential.

Your skills: Equipment Utilization, Health & Safety, Numeracy, Organizational Skills, and clear Verbal Communication.

What will you be doing?

Your day-to-day will center around providing exceptional medical and surgical care to our resident cat and dog populations, with 200 of each in your care.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Named Veterinary Surgeon as set out in the Guide to ASPA.
  • Undertake approved Named Veterinary Surgeon training course within one year of accepting appointment and maintain required CPD.
  • Delivering high-quality veterinary care during core hours, with the flexibility to respond to occasional on-call queries (1 night a week, 1 weekend in 4).
  • Shaping and refining healthcare protocols, driving continuous improvements.
  • Leading with medical insight on research projects, ensuring clinical excellence.
  • Supporting and training other Associates in medical and surgical best practices.
