At Mars Snacking, we are on an ambitious journey to rewire and almost double the size of our business by 2030. We see digital and data as an increasing multiplier of value across not just Mars Wrigley, but also the Health and Wellness and Retail global business units of Mars Snacking.

With this in mind, we recently established the Chief Data Office (CDO) Organization to define and execute the end-to-end enterprise data strategy inclusive of data and platform governance associated with AI for the company. In collaboration with our various Global and Regional Function Business, Process Experience Owners (GXOs), Regional Champions and CIOs and Digital Technology Leaders, and Global Business Services teams, we will establish robust data quality practices, effective operating models, evolve data in conjunction with AI literacy, and implement durable technology capabilities to govern our data as an asset from end to end. The CDO organization will serve as an accelerator to our Mars Snacking’s next generation of data-led AI journey.

The Sales Data Analyst is part of the Chief Data Office Organization within Mars Snacking, directly supporting the Global Director of Enterprise & AI Stewardship and Delivery – Sales Domain in the roll-out of data for One Demand Planning (ODP) and other initiatives. In this pivotal role, the Data Analyst will be partnering with regional, global and transformational Functional Leads to effectively understand, analyse, document, organize, optimize and orchestrate all aspects of a specific market(s)’s enterprise data in support of the ODP Tool’s roll-out. This will ultimately include the data foundation, analytics and AI.

Functional Scope of Sales Domain

The Sales Domain covers the end-to-end sales process, covering:

  • Partners of choice with customers & suppliers, driving category growth and enabled by a customer centric mindset and a shared data ecosystem
  • Integrated business planning approach, featuring multiyear touchless scenario planning and execution capability
  • Reimagining domains such as sales, customer service and market planning as proactive value drivers through leveraging automation, digital and artificial intelligence

Domain Scope includes Market Execution Plan / One Demand Planning / Future of Sales

Data Object Accountability: Demand, Forecasting, Contracts, Sales/Order, Customer, Perfect Store Execution, and many more.

Key Responsibilities:

Data Requirements Gathering & Ownership

  • Own the capture, documentation, and understanding of data needs and usage for multiple business initiatives
  • Ensure that these requirements are developed in partnership with Digital Technology (DT) and local market business teams to ensure data readiness for MVP pilots and initiatives in the market(s)
  • Be hands-on in understanding current data usage, systems used, data quality issues, reporting used, and the details around the ‘as is’ data used and ‘to be’ data required
  • Develop and execute templates and frameworks for the capture of complex data design, functional and business process metadata
  • Build a backlog of data quality issues to support data improvements, quick wins and prioritization
  • Own the delivery of data for any technology/platform roll-outs across specific market(s)

Data Governance, Quality, and Metadata Management Orchestration:

  • Capture data object and critical data element mappings against business functions and processes
  • Facilitate adherence to data governance policies, and guide the management of data standards, and execution of data quality discipline across E2E Sales function scope.
  • Collaborate closely with the Data Governance program office and data technology capability teams to ensure functional requirements are addressed and prioritized by various DG council and SteerCo forums as necessary.

Data in support of AI/Analytics Deployment for One Demand Planning:

  • Analyse, document, optimize and orchestrate plans for fit-for-AI/Analytics data to enable functional use cases for Sales Domain.
  • Work closely with the data architects and data modelers/engineers to provide requirements for the design and build of data models
  • Work closely with the data architects, data modelers/engineers, data scientists and AI engineers to ensure data is mapped, tested and ready for analytics models.

Cross-functional, market and regional collaboration:

  • Work closely with business teams and data analysts across other markets to ensure work is aligned with and helping drive the deliverables for One Demand Planning and other initiatives
  • Build relationships within key market(s) and support the pilots in markets and new ways of accessing, using, and interpreting data
  • Work closely with CDO Data Literacy team to educate business and market teams in order to enable their use of data

Qualifications:

Minimum qualifications are required to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or business analytics or related major with equivalent business experience.
  • Proven 5+ years experience in the fields of Analytics, Data Science or Data Engineering

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Significant experience in data domains such as Customer, Vendor, Sales/Order, Forecasting, Contracts, Co-pack/Co-man, promotions, price and so on.
  • Significant experience in analysing and understanding business processes to determine and capture data requirements
  • Experience with Kinaxis, Nielsen data, Salesforce, TPM, etc preferred.
  • Recent experience as a data analyst in a CPG organization
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret data
  • Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy
  • Understanding of data modelling concepts (conceptual, logical, physical) preferred
  • Experience engaging with technical and non-technical audiences and all levels of employees to understand their priorities and related data skill needs.
