Job Purpose

MGS R&D Solutions (RDS) make it easier for Associates to create high quality Mars products, through R&D Enterprise Systems functional expertise, consultancy, raw material and product testing, and governance of internal and external laboratories. MGS R&D Solutions create knowledge and insights to enable the right R&D and Q&FS (Quality & Food Safety) decisions for the business.

Reporting to the Business Partnership Program Lead and as a part of the Digital and Service Excellence team, this role will define, drive, and deliver Knowledge Management Excellence across a broad set of strategic priorities in R&D Solutions (across both Functional Experts and Laboratories). It is accountable for the leadership, implementation, and governance of knowledge practices (standards, training, associate experience etc.) across the service line, supporting our internal ways of working and to the benefit of our external customers and stakeholders.

Both Strategic and Operational, this global role will work in close partnership with a wide range of associates in R&D Solutions - in global, regional, and local roles and at all levels. Customers include our own teams (250 Associates), and our segment stakeholders (30,000 Associates).

Profile we're looking for

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent; preferably in human resources, communications, information management, library science, business, or relevant field
  • 2 - 5 years of professional work experience, ideally including knowledge and/or intranet implementation, either employee-facing portal initiatives and communications or leading internal KM best practice
  • Ideally experience in content management (processes, practices, and technology), content migration, end user portal management, and information architecture.
  • English fluent and French appreciated
  • Strong communication skills are essential.
  • Experience on projects requiring change mgmt., transformational process, or org behaviour changes.
  • Ability to stand alone and deliver in ambiguous situations.
  • Experience of influencing stakeholders on a particular decision or direction.

Key Responsibilities

  • Is responsible for moving forward on the implementation of the aligned Knowledge Management masterplan.
  • Takes care of the holistic Knowledge Management approach, including Process, Governance & Organization, Tools & Systems, and Talent & Capabilities.
  • Creates and maintains processes and guidelines to govern content quality including structure, style, tone of voice, metadata, and search optimization (across different platforms, incl. MyHub customer portal, SharePoint, and other systems)
  • Contributes to a robust Knowledge Experience, develops a measurement plan and resulting Knowledge Management roadmap based on the masterplan.
  • Monitors R&D Solutions Knowledge Management performance across all personas and prioritized user journeys, adjusting as required.
  • Delivers the end-to-end Associate Knowledge Experience using design thinking and best practices.
  • Monitors key end-to-end performance indicators that demonstrate the strategic value of Knowledge Management and the Associate Knowledge Experience.
  • Supports cross-functional and cross-regional adoption of best practices through collaborative relationships within R&D Solutions and other areas of Mars (e.g., Digital Technologies).
  • Applies up-to-date knowledge of Knowledge Management industry trends and market developments; generates new ideas to improve Knowledge Management, the end-to-end knowledge experience for Mars Associates and its partners, our ability to innovate effectively and efficiently.
  • Creates clear functional requirements informed by strong understanding of users and technology with a strong bias for simplification and value creation.
  • Coordinates across functional areas to ensure a consistent approach is applied.
  • Drives new capabilities in Knowledge Management such as Knowledge Lifecycle Management
  • Supports adoption and satisfaction of diverse, global user community via multiple support channels including user forums and training documentation.
  • Adheres and governs strict standards with regards to data privacy and confidential company information.
  • Delivers relevant capability-building and support for content owners across the organization.
