The Enterprise R&D and Lab digital domain forms a critical functional and data foundation as part of the end-to-end business transformation program across Mars Inc. It plays a pivotal role in delivering best in class digital capabilities across Product Lifecycle Management, Quality & Food Safety, MGS Laboratories and Enterprise Product Innovation and in transitioning from our current state systems, process and data architecture, to the transition state and on to the future state. Digital R&D today spans a complex architecture of systems, process and data and this role will ensure the existing BAU landscape and associated new capability development and enhancements are fully managed end to end, whilst partnering with the cPLM senior lead to govern appropriately between BAU and transformation agendas.

In order to maintain our existing portfolio and deliver new capability/innovation across Prod & Pack, this role requires key stakeholder engagement across Corporate R&D, Segment functional and DT senior leads. It also requires a very close relationship with the GDO organisation, in leading new capabilities and innovations and ensuring strong end to end business value realisation across the Prod & Pack domain.

This role will also play a key role in the cPLM transformation agenda, leading key activities on behalf of the cPLM senior lead, such as enterprise deployment planning and GDO transition and partnership strategy.

What are we looking for?

  • Bachelor’s degree in IT, Business or relevant business function (e.g. R&D) or equivalent with minimum 5-8 years of experience in digital led business change.
  • Experience in digital R&D Platform architecture in large CPG organisations. This includes senior leader stakeholder management and strong financial governance.
  • Experience in driving digital R&D initiatives across Prod & Pack domains that ensure timely, accurate and trusted digital capabilities for large, multi-segment company like Mars to support multi-year BAU investment program.
  • Understanding of technology management principles with good understanding of digital R&D platforms and associated best practices in optimal integrations across the business landscape.
  • Knowledge of digital R&D platform architecture, complexities and architectural patterns and needs (e.g data confidentiality, security).
  • Ability to participate in multiple complex programs across BAU at the same time in an agile environment.
  • Ability to Innovate with out-of-the-box thinking to evolve solutions and experiences through technology.

What will be your key responsibilities?

BAU landscape end to end governance of new capability and innovation (60-70%)

  • Responsible for the DT Enterprise Tech Prod & Pack BAU strategy, including alignment between segment and enterprise on a 3-5 year BAU investment roadmap. This will encompass the foundational needs of the function and the data / analytics business needs, ensuring the right investment governance for BAU.
  • Responsible for governance and measurement of the successful implementation of business value through ET Value Creation.
  • Overall responsibility for successful execution and delivery of all programs and projects within the portfolio across BAU.
  • Oversee a portfolio of digital (IT) projects and programs across BAU prod and pack. Make strategic decisions on resource allocation to optimize BAU project delivery and business impact.
  • Manage relationships with key stakeholders, including segment functional leaders, Corporate R&D, GDO and EA.
  • Define and execute the digital strategy for the existing landscape in close partnership with respective senior business and DT leads.​ Ensure clear communication of BAU digital strategies, progress, and outcomes to stakeholders at all levels.
  • Provide guidance and support to senior leads, delivery leads, and project managers to ensure effective BAU project execution.​
  • Manage the budget for BAU digital initiatives, ensuring cost-effectiveness and alignment with financial goals.

Digital R&D cPLM Transformation (30-40%)

  • Partner with cPLM senior lead on critical cPLM transformation activities and roadmap
  • Oversee the deployment strategy on the DT side for cPLM, connecting strategically all dots between BAU and transformation landscapes.
  • Own the strategy of transition to GDO for cPLM, including approach, organization needs, scenario planning and minimization of technical debt.

Financial Investment Governance

  • Responsible for overall financial due diligence of the investments governed and prioritized on the Prod & Pack BAU roadmap. Active role in ensuring financial processes are followed and full transparency is integrated into S&OP cycles within R&D. Budgetary oversight of approximately $3-5 annually.

Thought Leadership

  • Evaluate technologies and platforms to identify best-fit for business needs
  • Provide thought leadership on Prod & Pack roadmap, bringing in new external perspective to the area and playing an active thought leadership role within DT, corporate and the segments.
