The Digital Broadcast Lead will bring technical expertise and a strong creative vision to plan and execute engaging and interactive in-person, hybrid, and virtual corporate broadcasts for Mars' top executive leadership teams. Events will range from quarterly townhalls and leadership meetings all the way up to segment summits, along with various other corporate communications formats.


The role will provide technical functional leadership to maintain the existing broadcast systems and processes, execute broadcasts with operational excellence, and drive continuous improvements through operational efficiency and new innovations for the Executive Collaboration Service's Broadcast Center of Excellence

What are we looking for?

  • Extensive experience of live and hybrid event production experience working within multiple production disciplines (audio, video, lighting, graphics, stage setup).

  • Advanced proficiency with IP-based video and audio routing/transport technologies including: NDI, Dante, RTMP, WebRTC.

  • Proficient with IT network fundamentals required to support IP-based broadcast workflows (VLANs, switch management, trunking, network capacity management, fiber uplinks etc).

  • Proficient with professional-grade video and audio production equipment or software: preferred experience with Newtek TriCaster, VizRT Vectar Plus, vMix, Dante Controller, Yamaha QL1 Mixers, Unity Intercom and ClearCom systems. Equivalent technology considered.

  • Advanced knowledge of broadcast audio/visual equipment including: digital video and PTZ cameras (including shading, calibration, and transport), audio systems (mixers, wireless microphones, IEMs), stage lighting, digital video playback, event staging, video projection, and REMI workflows.

  • Intermediate proficiency with the Microsoft Office 365 platform required (Teams, Teams Live Events, Townhall, PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Visio, SharePoint, OneDrive).

  • Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Teams as a broadcast/meeting platform required, and other video collaboration platforms considered beneficial: Zoom, Vimeo, YouTube, Facebook Live.

  • Experience with Adobe suite of creative applications (Photoshop, Premiere, Illustrator, After Effects) preferred.

  • Experience with 3D virtual sets and next-generation broadcasting platforms is considered an asset.

What will be your key responsibilities?

  • Plan, coordinate, and execute live in-person, hybrid, and virtual broadcast events and meetings.

  • Participate in event planning ideation by collaborating with team members, stakeholders, and creative directors to generate concepts and ideas to ensure professional and engaging events. Utilize extensive industry experience and knowledge to plan and execute the aligned creative vision.

  • Lead pre-production planning calls, advise internal teams and stakeholders on recommended platforms to use as well as best-practices for quality broadcast execution.

  • Work closely with business stakeholders (Corporate Affairs teams) to implement their vision of the broadcast, providing leadership and guidance to ensure quality execution.

  • Oversee all technical aspects of an event including: setup, calibration, and testing of all broadcast equipment (cameras, microphones, speakers, audio mixer, vision mixer, lighting, stage displays etc); directing production and support staff as required; managing and maintaining the control room or production; coordinating and managing rental of supplemental equipment and labor as necessary to support requirements. Create show configuration documentation to be shared with all necessary personnel during preproduction.

  • During events direct and manage cameras and video playback using vision mixer, manage microphones and audio outputs/routing using audio mixer, control graphics overlays (eg. lower thirds, screen bugs), manage confidence monitors and speaker timers to support presenters, and manage interactivity platforms during events (eg, question and answer sessions, polling etc).

  • Create, customize, load, and test event specific digital assets to support broadcast (backplates, screen bugs, lower third templates, animated transitions etc), partnering with a creative agency and internal Mars brand teams as required for advanced demands.

  • Ensure highest quality broadcast standards are created and maintained for all events supported by the Broadcast Center of Excellence.

  • Provide operational and consultative support across multiple events, ensuring issues are resolved in a timely matter and to customer’s high satisfaction.

  • Manage and maintain the inventory of broadcast equipment including firmware updates and testing, warranty repair/service coordination with vendors, and procurement of new equipment.

  • Work on continuous improvement opportunities to enhance broadcast quality, add new capabilities, and increase efficiency to support global scalability of the service.
