Job Description
APM Terminals
As part of our Growth Strategy at APM Terminals, we are investing in greenfield projects to expand our existing footprint and working with our existing brownfield sites to ensure best-in-class terminals across the globe. Our ability to design and build a terminal, establish an operational organization and secure commercial business is pivotal to achieving these ambitions.
As part of the Centre of Excellence, this position has a global scope and will provide PMO services to capital investment projects, working across the Business Implementation Management transversal, from the front end of architectural design and engineering to project execution and sustainment in operations.
Together with the Heads of Portfolio, this position will ensure best practice in planning and delivery of projects, working both in the system (on projects) and on the system (building project management capability across projects).
The Sr. PMO will have the responsibility for the following:
- Developing and improving project controls methodologies, approaches, toolsets, guidance and standards necessary for effective, efficient and controlled project delivery.
- Working with other functions to align approaches to project delivery. This will require routine close working with all other BIM functions as well as support functions related to Project Execution.
- Providing timely PMO guidance, advice and support to projects to improve their knowledge, abilities and effectiveness.
- Reviewing and challenging approaches and key interfaces within projects (business and asset delivery) and working with the project teams to develop plans to address them.
- Continuously refine and improve towards a world-class Project Management Framework which serves to ensure that APM Terminals delivers its new implementation projects with clear processes, transparent decisions, strong documentation and effective best practice deployment
- Focusing on the process and activity of planning, recruiting, onboarding, motivating, and retaining project controls resources and procedures to achieve specific goals supporting the business strategy.
- Drive, facilitate and plan workshops targeting clear end products.
- Drive improvements to lift the capability of the PMO, assuming the role of ‘Technical Expert’ in the disciplines of planning and execution.
- Be the conduit across the value chain in BIM, from project development to hand over.
- Ensure that elements of the Project Integration Framework are aligned and integrated with other relevant APM Terminals processes
- External benchmarking to improve methodologies supporting successful implementations
- Coordinate project execution reporting and stage-gate reviews
- Maintain an updated compliance and project management maturity overview for projects
- Structured document management within BIM functions
- Maintain a Structured and accessible PM standards and learning repository, accessible to all APMT projects.
- Acquire super user knowledge incl. but not limited to:
- Execution reviews
- Baseline planning
- Risk management
- Change management
- Cost engineering
- Lessons Learnt
- Reporting
- Document Management
- Own formats and published versions for Project Execution reporting and standard work and Operating system
Assist in ad hoc communication and support requests by the organisation
This role will be a trusted partner and connector across the portfolio of projects and will be central in improving project practices, techniques and tools, including the APM Terminals Project management Framework.
