Role Overview:
The Shipping Operations Specialist plays a vital role in managing and optimizing day-to-day shipping operations at Maersk. This position requires a strong understanding of shipping frameworks, port/terminal operations, container freight stations (CFS), and empty depots, ensuring seamless coordination of handover and takeover points.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee daily shipping operations, ensuring adherence to key performance indicators (KPIs) and service level agreements (SLAs).
- Manage vendor and local operating center (LOC) queries, ensuring prompt resolution and high stakeholder satisfaction.
- Drive customer engagement, fostering strong relationships with LOCs.
- Lead and mentor the team, facilitating skill development and performance enhancement.
- Prepare and present weekly and monthly operational reports.
- Analyze end-to-end processes to identify inefficiencies and drive improvements.
- Implement process control measures and ensure compliance with operational standards.
- Conduct training sessions for new team members to ensure smooth onboarding.
- Drive process standardization and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Undertake ad hoc responsibilities as required.
Position Requirements:
- In-depth knowledge of operational processes in the shipping and logistics industry.
- Hands-on experience in handling dry and reefer container maintenance and repairs.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to manage internal and external stakeholders effectively.
- Analytical mindset with the ability to derive insights and present findings clearly.
- Self-motivated, proactive, and adaptable to changing business needs.
- Fixed Term (6 Months).
Technical Skills:
- Familiarity with key industry systems such as GSIS, RKEM, GCSS, and MERC+ (preferred).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.
- Understanding of end-to-end shipping operations.
- Knowledge of equipment maintenance and repair (EMR) policies, including IICL, MCIC, and MRIC standards.
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
- Prior experience in shipping operations, equipment maintenance, or logistics management.
