There is now a unique opportunity to join Maersk as an Assistant Category Manager in a newly created role in Panama . You will join the Indirect Category Management Travel team, where you will play an active role in procuring a range of travel categories spanning across Hotels, Meetings & Events, Air Contracts & Travel Management Company to name a few.

This role will be based Panama, where you will work independently in your day-to-day activities. However, you will be an integral part of a dynamic global team, collaborating with colleagues and stakeholders across multiple locations. Strong communication and time management skills will be key, as you will be working with team members in various time zones.

We are looking for a motivated self-starter to join our Maersk Travel Team

Key responsibilities:

  • Focal point for Travel Agency set-up in the region, handling all day-to-day matters

  • Drive continues improvement of the Maersk Travel Program and implement best practices.

  • Quickly establish yourself as the subject matter expert on our policies, our systems and approval processes, and be a resource for employees.

  • Communicate Travel Guidelines and Policies across the Maersk organization

  • Assist strategic decision making through data analysis and daily feedback from stakeholders

  • Assist with and independently execute various tenders and projects in the region

  • Servicing internal stakeholders on various operational ad-hoc requests related to travel activities

  • Assist the global Category Managers with their categories i.e. Airlines, Hotel, Meetings & Events and Travel Agencies

  • You will have significant responsibility from the start and are expected to execute and deliver on time and with a great sense of detail.

Required qualifications, experience & skills:

  • A bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience (Master degree or similar is preferred).

  • 2-3 years of relevant experience in the travel industry, preferably in a corporate environment .

  • Excellent written, oral, and formal communication skills in both Spanish and English. International mind-set supported by high level of proficiency and confidence in spoken and written English.

  • Excellent Stakeholder Management skills with both internal and external partners.

  • Strong professional interest in the Travel Industry. Experience from a job in the airline/hotel industry or Travel Management Company is an advantage.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects, adjust priorities as needed and meet deadlines.

  • Comfortable working with PowerPoint and Excel and interested in being able to develop and deliver clear written messages.

  • Ability to generate innovative insights from analysis; develop and implement new methodologies and analysis to drive actionable results, with a sharp eye for details.

  • Entrepreneurial in spirit and adaptable in a continuously changing environment.

  • Service minded and comfortable communicating with many different cultures and all levels of the organisation.

  • Interested in developing your skills within Procurement and taking the first step to a potential career within Maersk Procurement.
