Job Description

Who are we?

Ki is the biggest global insurance tech company you’ve never heard of, unless you’ve been looking to insure a satellite, wind farm or music festival recently.

We launched in 2021 on the back of a fundraise that delivered $500m of investment, making us one the largest fintech start-ups that year. Our investors were excited about the fact we were revolutionising the way a 333 year-old industry was working. We have rapidly scaled: In our first year we wrote over $400m of premium and in 2022 we doubled that to $834m. We have developed Ki over the course of the past 2 years and created a platform that helps insurance brokers cover risks in a fast and frictionless way. We’re continuing to lead the charge on the digitisation of this market and that’s where you come in - we need more curious minds to work with us to realise this goal and create more opportunities. If helping us transform a multi-billion global industry sounds exciting to you, read on.

What you will be working on

You’ll join as Engineering Manager, a unique role here at Ki, acting as an advocate for our technology vision and developing a high-performance culture within the engineering team. You’ll use your significant and invaluable experience in software engineering roles to bring a product-led and agile working mindset to the business and establish engineering departmental goals, objectives, and operating procedures.

You’ll have ample opportunity to involve yourself with diversity projects, promote ownership and accountability, learning and teaching, and driving Engineering Principles helping to develop a culture of excellence and wellbeing. We hope you would also contribute to expanding the engineering brand by getting involved with external talks and meetups, as well as networking with other like-minded experts and leaders.

Synopsis of the role

You’ll find there are many differing aspects to the Engineering Manager opportunity here at Ki including, amongst much more, the management of the Ki platform, broader architecture, roadmap delivery and engineering function.

Keeping current with trends and issues in the technology industry, including current technologies and prices, you’ll advise, counsel, and educate executives and management on their competitive or financial impact.

Using your hands-on technical expertise you’ll establish technical best practices, policies, ways of working, testing and delivery strategies, overseeing these across the engineering team;
Crucially, you’ll work with the CTO to plan, forecast and manage Ki's investment in technology and its engineering department and be accountable for the operational health of the product group, using data to drive improvements, ensuring our products are delivered and supported to a high standard.

The above is very much non exhaustive and a mere synopsis so if your interest has been sparked, we’d love to talk with you about your experience and ambitions and the full scope of this opportunity.

Our culture

Inclusion & Diversity is at the heart of our business at Ki. We recognise that diversity in age, race, gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation, physical ability, thought and social background bring richness to our working environment. No matter who you are, where you’re from, how you think, or who you love, we believe you should be you.

You’ll get a highly competitive remuneration and benefits package. This is kept under constant review to make sure it stays relevant. We understand the power of saying thank you and take time to acknowledge and reward extraordinary effort by teams or individuals.

If this sounds like a role and a culture that appeals to you, let us know.
