Job Description

Business Development Specialist Salary: up to 40,000RAND pm basic, plus bonus up to 50% of basic Location: This role is fully remote; however, we require someone based within a commutable distance of Johannesburg, South Africa due to the wider team set-up. We call it Growth here, because it’s not sales, marketing, delivery and customer success working individually, it’s one team working under a common purpose to ‘deliver the sustainable and responsible growth of instant impact’ About the role As our Business Development Specialist (BDS) you will work closely with our Growth function and Executive Search team (Impact X) to identify potential customers, generate new business opportunities, and manage leads through to a qualified meeting with a senior team member. We heavily leverage automation and data to ensure you have the right support to conduct focused outreach and follow up activity, with everything you do tracked in HubSpot. As this role is the first hire in the team, we see it expanding for the right individual to either lead a BDS team or as a more senior/principal individual contributor We are a lean team, so you’ll be a key contributor, carrying a quota from day 1. About You If you’re tenacious, self-motivated, a natural relationship builder with excellent communication skills, a strong work ethic and a passion for sales we want to hear from you. This role will be tough, so you’ve got to be determined to succeed and resilient. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in sales and know how to open and manage a sales process, working through the various opportunity development cycles. You’ll also be a natural problem solver and good with technology.

This role will involve (but not limited to):

  • New Business Outreach: You’ll be spending most of your time contacting potential prospects, you’ll create engaging high quality email sequences, Leverage LinkedIn, networking and calls to ensure you meet your meeting targets.
  • Collaborating with the team: You won't be doing it all on your own, the Rev Ops team will help you narrow down your prospect lists and automate some of the research and the Generation team will help with sequencing, automation and smart intent-based approaches. You’ll be in a constant feedback loop to make the process smarter and faster.
  • Qualify Prospects & Opportunities: Once you’ve engaged with a prospect, you’ll work with a sales leader to qualify the opportunity, often taking 1st stage qualification calls on your own. Once qualified, you’ll be setting the follow up meeting for the sales leader.
  • Using the Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system: You’ll use HubSpot daily to manage leads through the sales process, you’ll also leverage it to track your progress towards both individual and team sales goals.
  • Stay up to date: You’ll spend a portion of each day reading and researching the market to understand trends and changes and what is happening at competitor organisations.
