About the role

Trading Analyst

Full time

Permanent

London/EMEA (hybrid)

Reports to the VP Trading, Strategy, CRM

Summary of the role but also what our team are up to:

This exciting new role is designed to support the trading function of the business to drive the trading performance of the direct sales channel, with a focus on our cities. You will take ownership of the performance of selected cities in our portfolio and work collaboratively across the teams to improve their performance. This role will need to identify trends, forecast performance, succinctly summarise issues and opportunities and work at pace to ensure we improve on these opportunities to drive growth.

What will you be responsible for /helping us to do?

Cities Trading Analysis (45%)

· Take accountability of cities FNR, CM, including but not limited to – for your cities portfolio:

  • Stay up to date with cities performance on a daily basis by covering the following, but not limited to:
  • Sales performance : how are we performing in revenue and profit
  • Understand detailed e-commerce (and wider product related) KPIs to inform of the drivers of performance and any issues that need to be addressed (for example conversion rate, channel level stats, customer savings, net promoter scores)
  • Growth v competition & market : how should we be performing, how are others performing, are there any emerging threats
  • Analysing market trends : which direction is the market headed and should we adjust anything
  • Determining if we are spending enough and through the right channels
  • Determine the application of business initiatives to the cities you are covering
  • Work with the relevant destination and sites teams on merchandising and communication of our products to ensure maximum relevance and effectiveness
  • Analyse all relevant key KPIs daily and weekly to monitor performance and any issues
  • Determine long term trends and summarise longer term issues clearly for discussion and action

Collaboration and presentation of city performance (45%)

  • Collaborate across teams to solve key issues and recommend solutions- across all aspects of marketing
  • Build knowledge of the city over time to become a “trading expert”
  • Run through city performance in a monthly meeting, with clear summaries of performance and issues and get agreement on next steps and actions (initially supported by a Trading Director)
  • Provide succinct summaries of performance weekly and on an ad-hoc basis
  • Follow up on actions and co-ordinate city improvement from a trading perspective
  • Build short/mid/long-er term forecasts to assess performance against targets and support the business in defining long-term growth (using set of assumptions)

General Trading: Team Support, Forecasting, Ad-hoc analyses and questions as required (10%)

  • Team support as required: modelling, updating data, presentations

Requirements

What skills do you have that are essential in this role?

  • Qualification in business, marketing, or a related field (preferred), or minimum 3-4+ years of experience
  • Familiar with marketing analytics tools and sales optimisation techniques
  • Ideally some relevant exposure to direct-to-consumer marketing: understanding of D2C business
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data, generate insights, and make data-driven decisions
  • Inquisitive person - keen to understand the ‘why’ behind everything
  • Strong desire and focus on achieving growth and results
  • Intellectually curious, energetic and self-starting
  • Showing potential in good communication and stakeholder management skills, collaborative approach
