Job Description

About Faculty

Faculty transforms organisational performance through safe, impactful and human-led AI.

We are Europe’s leading applied AI company, and saw its potential a decade ago - long before the current hype cycle.

We were founded in 2014 with our Fellowship programme, training academics to become commercial data scientists.

Today, we provide over 300 global customers with industry-leading software, and bespoke AI consultancy for retail, healthcare, energy, and governmental organisations, as well as our award winning Fellowship.

Our expertise and safety credentials are such that OpenAI asked us to be their first technical partner, helping customers deploy cutting-edge generative AI safely.

Our high-impact work has saved lives through forecasting NHS demand during covid, produced green energy by routing boats towards the wind, slashed marketing spend by predicting customer spending habits, and kept children safe online.

AI is an epoch-defining technology. We want people to join us who can help our customers reap its enormous benefits safely.

Role Description

Faculty is one of Europe’s leading applied artificial intelligence companies. We build, deploy and operate AI solutions to increase our customers’ performance and help them realise their full potential. We believe that AI should be trustworthy, impactful and beneficial across society. Those principles have shaped our work with more than 230 organisations across the public and private sectors as we help them use AI to understand more deeply, make better decisions and act faster.

About the Role

We're looking for a full-stack Software Engineer to work in our Delivery team on our ground-breaking Frontier platform. Your role will focus on customising, adapting, extending and deploying Frontier to our most important customers.

As we continue to expand our platform's reach, you'll have the unique opportunity to build a scalable AI focussed product, whilst working in a team dedicated to best technical practices.

In this role, you'll be immersed in hands-on work, tackling complex real-world challenges using state-of-the-art technology. From optimising bed management in healthcare institutions to addressing logistics in the military and supporting sustainability goals in various industries, Frontier empowers organisations to make informed decisions through AI-driven insights.

What you will be doing:

In Faculty, the Frontier team is building a Decision Intelligence platform, which we believe will empower enterprises to transform their decision-making processes.

At the heart of Decision Intelligence for each customer lies one or more Computational Twins (CT). A CT is a digital representation of an existing business process in which decisions are made. Our platform enables a CT to show historical process performance, model future behaviour and simulate decisions.

As an engineer in the Frontier Delivery team, you will have a key role in building our capacity to build CT’s for our customers, and work with our delivery partners to scale this capability further.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Technical contributor to Delivery projects

  • Delivering technical work that meets customer expectations, requirements and timelines

  • Communicating with the customer technical teams alongside Senior and Lead Delivery engineers

What we are looking for:

  • Experience in building and deploying technically complex platforms

  • Full-stack engineering experience (Typescript/ React FE) and (Python/ Node BE)

  • Experience with startup-centric fast-paced work, sometimes introducing creative approaches to difficult problems.

  • Comfortable interacting with partners, customers and other stakeholders.

  • Experience working with platform and services delivery models

  • An understanding of the AI value chain

  • Experience with a platform product team and iterating platform features.

  • Working experience with Python, Typescript and React

What we can offer you:

The Faculty team is diverse and distinctive, and we all come from different personal, professional and organisational backgrounds. We all have one thing in common: we are driven by a deep intellectual curiosity that powers us forward each day.

Faculty is the professional challenge of a lifetime. You’ll be surrounded by an impressive group of brilliant minds working to achieve our collective goals. Our consultants, product developers, business development specialists, operations professionals and more all bring something unique to Faculty, and you’ll learn something new from everyone you meet. You’ll also have the opportunity to make your mark on a high-growth start-up now poised to expand internationally.
