About the role

You will work as one of the heads of our engineering team working on the development of software applications, enabling and ensuring that our engineers have what they need to achieve our goals. This includes setting and ensuring standards and processes as well as driving technical innovation and collaboration between squads. You will work closely with the great people that we have in our engineering team by having regular 1-2-1s and unlocking opportunities for them to grow. You will also represent the team to the wider business, working with leaders from other departments.

Responsibilities

  • Help teams implement processes, standards, blockers

  • Be a part of ceremonies and meetings to represent the engineering department

  • One to ones with engineers

  • Assist with recruitment of new members of the engineering team

  • Health of the engineerings teams- listen to and address issues, create opportunities for growth, embody team culture and positive dynamics

  • Ensure engineering documentation conforms to standards and templates

  • Monitoring and evaluating the performance of engineers

  • Active role in scrum teams pushing for technical excellence and ensure teams work towards all goals

  • Help teams to achieve excellence within our department

  • Identify and facilitate where cross-collaboration is necessary

  • Drive engagement with architecture forums, tech forums etc.

  • Advocates on behalf of team members by securing adequate resources for success

  • Communicates technical information to non-technical stakeholders, including investors and potential customers

  • Collaborate with other team leaders and departments

Key Requirements

  • Several years experience leading and managing people

  • Stakeholder management

  • Experience in product delivery

  • Good communication and collaboration skills

  • Good listener, empathetic, eager to help others achieve success

  • Experience in web, mobile app, and/or cloud engineering beneficial
