Job Description
This part-time (50%) position will join our Berlin office for 8 months, ideally starting in October - December 2024 at the latest. You will be part of the Thriving Planet Legal Group, a global group of lawyers working across multiple jurisdictions with the objective to advance environmental law.
You will be based in the Emissions Reductions subgroup, which focuses on energy and climate law and industrial emissions. During this assignment you will be working on litigation and advocacy relating to fossil fuel infrastructure as well as the coal and fossil gas phase-out in Germany.
Meet your Manager
In this role you will be managed by the Emissions Reductions Lead, Natascha Kersting, who is based in the London office. Natascha has worked internationally on environmental advocacy and litigation related to a broad range of topics spanning climate framework laws, carbon markets, corporate due diligence, agriculture and forest governance.
Main Duties
- Legal research and analysis to support litigation and legal advocacy
- Contributing to the selection, development, and management of litigation
- Undertaking advocacy work
- Maintaining working relationships with key external partners

Role requirements
- First and Second State Examinations in Germany
- Professional experience in working with German environmental/climate, or energy law
- Experience working in an international environment in a legal context (desirable)
- Fluent (CEFR level C2) in English
- Excellent legal research, analysis, and writing, skills
