Job Description

ClientEarth USA welcomes expressions of interest for recent law school graduates to join our Santa Monica-based program team for externally-funded fellowships (remote locations within the US may be considered for qualified candidates).

As integral members of the program team, fellows participate in identifying, scoping, investigating, evaluating, initiating and advancing litigation and other types of advocacy, legal research and analysis, preparing high-quality legal writing, and preparing written work that effectively communicates to a wide variety of legal, policy, political, civil society and interdisciplinary audiences. Fellows are fully integrated into ClientEarth teams, events, and meetings. Fellowships begin each September, and may be for one or two years.

All 3Ls (third year) and recent graduates are welcome to apply. While ClientEarth will give preference to applicants who have already secured funding, we recognize that securing funding may require a host letter of support. Applicants that require such a letter must include the name and details of the sought-after fellowship in their application to ClientEarth to be considered. Any offer to serve as a host organization is conditioned upon the fellow’s ability to secure such funding.

External fellowship funding may function as a traditional fellowship (funds paid to ClientEarth to in turn provide salary and benefits to the fellow) or as a secondment (salary and benefits paid directly to the fellow). Applications will be reviewed on a quarterly basis, and applicants are encouraged to apply as soon as they are able.
