About you

You’ll be joining the Serval team, a team of 6 engineers as a platform Engineer. Reporting to the Engineering Manager, you’ll be a part of a fast-growing business that is challenging the market and doing things differently.

Coming to Clearbank with some experience of public cloud, you'll take an active role in identifying and improving the current architecture in line with “well architected framework” approaches. You will be working alongside our Tech Lead and the rest of the team. In addition to cloud technologies, you’d be building and maintaining automation in those areas. There would also be room to grow into our small but critical on-premises infrastructure that hosts the ClearBank gateways to banking schemes. You'll have exposure of implementing reliable Infrastructure in the cloud and server management in another tech-led business helping us to understand the challenges and best practice you learned along the way. You’ll also be curious, have a growth-mindset and enjoy sharing your experience.

About the role

As the Platform Engineer you will be responsible for:

  • Building and running a platform that enables engineering teams to take their products to market faster and run them reliably and efficiently
  • Leveraging modern technologies where appropriate to get the most value out of existing ClearBank platform offering, delivering additional value in the highest-priority areas. ClearBank wants to lead the financial industry when it comes to technology while focussing on the things customers value most.
  • Leveraging agile principles enabling collaboration and innovation in the team and stakeholders outside the team, creating an environment that drives positive energy and success
  • Included on the on-call support rota (Everyone in the team is on-call)

Requirements

What we are looking for

  • Knowledge and expertise in cloud technologies
  • Hands-on experience with ClearBank platform technology stack: Terraform, Ansible, Azure DevOps yaml pipelines and templates, Azure cloud services including API Management, App gateway, Log Analytics, Firewalls to name a few.
  • Exposure to operating in a DevOps and/or Platform environment
  • Hands-on Experience with building scalable and reliable infrastructure from scratch
  • Hands-on experience with Configuration as Code or Infrastructure as Code tooling
  • Excellent communication skills

Desirable skills & experience, nice to have but not essential

  • Software development experience: C# (.NET) & Automated testing
  • On-premises experience.
