Job Description

We are Centrica! We’re so much more than an energy company. We’re a family of brands revolutionising a cleaner, greener future. Working here is #MoreThanACareer - we’re powered by purpose. Together we can make an impact that will truly change tomorrow. Whether you’re developing cutting-edge green tech, helping customers on the front line or simplifying operations behind the scenes.

Your work here isn’t just a job – it’s a mission. We all play a vital role in energising a greener, fairer future.

Take the chill out of your career!

Ensuring the future of our planet is kind of a big deal. That’s why working here is #MoreThanACareer. Our work is so much more than just a job – it’s a mission. We’re not just part of the energy transition, we’re leading it. We are proud to be Centrica – a family of 21,000 energisers working across 8 uniquely brilliant brands. Together, we’re united by our purpose of energising a greener, fairer future.

No one does energy like us. We make it, store it, move it, sell it and mend it.

You’ll be working for British Gas, our flagship consumer brand that’s been keeping Britain’s homes warm for over 200 years. Today, we’re so much more than just gas. We’re the household heroes on a mission to get the nations homes to Net Zero by 2050. That means we’re working with customers to help them reduce damaging electrical waste, keeping appliances out of landfill before their time is up. It’s not just about saving the planet; it’s about saving customer’s pennies too. Are you in?

You don’t need any experience – this is your chance to become something more!

We’re looking for people that are ready to dive headfirst into the world of kitchen appliance repairs. Age? Gender? Background? All absolutely irrelevant! We’re here for your drive, your passion, and that fire in your eyes. You are welcome for who you are, no matter where you come from, what you look like or how you power your home.

Don’t be fooled, this is quite a hands-dirty, heads-down type of role. But it is one like no other, where you’ll play a pivotal role in helping families every single day, ensuring their ovens keep baking and their fridges keep chilling!

Your mission is to help us mend it.

Kitchens are the hubs of our customers’ homes & appliances are an essential part of everyday life. When things do go wrong, you’ll be waiting in the wings to help them get those spuds roasting again – a true engineering superhero! At our state-of-the-art training centre, you’ll absorb the wisdom, grasp the skills, and earn the qualifications to emerge as a top-tier Kitchen Appliance Engineer. Under the wing of our experienced engineers, you’ll soon be in homes around your area, helping customers put the spin back into their washers!

Skills you need to succeed:

  • A qualification in and engineering, mechanical, or electrical subject.

  • A genuine passion for learning a trade, striving for a successful career & providing awesome customer service.

  • A full UK driving licence with 6 points or less.

  • Availability to attend training in Wakefield – with accommodation and travel provided

Here’s what's in it for you:

  • Starting salary of £25,970 rising to £26,775 when signed off to work solo

  • Once you have completed the full programme and aftercare support your salary will increase to £37,104 with bonus and add ons on top.

  • We also offer London Weighting Allowance ranging from £4000 to £6000 (dependant on location) for living or starting your day within London.

  • An expensed electric van for you to use for work, including an EV charge point where applicable, & a charge card.

As an Energiser, you get a bumper reward package bursting with benefits including huge discounts on your energy bills and our British Gas & Hive products. Plus, you can choose from loads of extras to add in if you wish. Our rewards are designed to give you the choice of benefits that support both you and your loved ones, making sure that you’re covered no matter what life throws your way.

Oh, and if that wasn’t enough, each year we give every colleague a chunk of free Centrica shares, as part of our group-wide profit share scheme.

Here's where we need talented people. If you don't live in one of these areas, please apply anyway; we'll add your details to our database and let you know when we are recruiting.

  • London, including North London, Camden, Edgware, Loughton, Dagenham, & Lambeth.
