Centrica Energy is looking for a Senior Infrastructure Engineer, who will contribute to strengthening knowledge within the Active Directory and Core Windows Services field.

We are currently in the migration phase, where we want to consolidate Active Directories to simplify management and overall complexity of our setup. In the project you will be able to contribute with your knowledge in design aspects of Active Directory, involving structure, delegation, security aspects, but also hands on.

Many of our in-house developed applications leverage AD authentication in different ways, which adds to the complexity when consolidating and migrating them into a new domain, so application migration experience would be a big plus.

The daily long-term activities will include ensuring standardization, stability, and security around Active Directory, but also other Core Windows Components.

About the role

We are a small infrastructure team and therefore you will also be involved in some operational responsibilities. Therefore, we expect that you have:

Technical skills:

  • Several years of experience in Active Directory from a large-scale enterprise: Confident with design and delegation principles (least-privilegie), knowledge of managing identities, including tiering, knowledge of multi-site / multi-region setup

  • Several years of experience with Active Directory Certificate Services (PKI): Certification Authority configuration and management, certificate template management, configuration, and deployment

  • Several years of experience handling Windows Server Operating Systems: Knowledge of deployment and configuration, strong skills in troubleshooting, broad knowledge of other Windows Core Services like DNS, DHCP, file services and WSUS

  • Strong interest within automation and integration i.e. Powershell, Ansible, Terraform, SaltStack or IaC

  • Interest within security and hardening principles for all of the above, including Microsoft Security Baselines and CIS Framework

Personal skills:

  • Outgoing personality with an open mindset in terms of ideas and approach

  • Team player oriented – Good alone, but better together mentality

  • Able to structure your own work and work independently

  • Natural interest in standardization and documentation

  • Eager to learn and grow in your primary field of expertise

Centrica Energy is part of Centrica Group, which are responsible for the general security posture of the platform, which means, that:

  • Microsoft Entra ID responsibility lies with the corporate group function, which means cooperation with group around activities

  • Security hardening will be done in close cooperation with group function

  • Troubleshooting and deep diving with SOC using the Microsoft Defender suite
