Role Purpose:
Position Description
Applications are invited for the position of Maintenance Technician at the Dublin Peaking Power Plant (Profile Park, Dublin)
Description of Power Plants
Two 100MW flexible gas fired peaking power plants are currently being constructed in Athlone and Dublin. The plants will generate electricity using gas fired reciprocating engines that drive electrical generators. This electrical energy is then transformed to high voltage and fed to the national grid for distribution across Ireland. The engines can also run on low sulphur diesel fuel as an emergency back up and will be hydrogen ready in that they will have the capability to run on a natural gas and hydrogen mix – in preparation for when hydrogen becomes available in the future. By being available to supplement electricity generation at short notice (such as at times of peak demand), these two peaking plants will support the growth and penetration of renewable generation onto the national grid thereby contributing to the achievement of Ireland’s binding commitments to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
We welcome applications from:
- Applicants with qualifications and experience in the maintenance of Electrical, Control & Instrumentation systems in a power generation environment (or a similar environment with complex control and instrumentation systems)
OR
- Applicants with qualifications and experience in the operation and maintenance of prime movers (such as CHP engines, diesel generators, heavy plant/marine engines, etc.)
This is an opportunity for an ambitious, high-performing candidate to take on a key role in our asset operations division as we work towards our purpose of energising a greener, fairer future.
