Job Description

We are Centrica! We’re so much more than an energy company. We’re a family of brands revolutionising a cleaner, greener future. Working here is #MoreThanACareer - we’re powered by purpose. Together we can make an impact that will truly change tomorrow. Whether you’re developing cutting-edge green tech, helping customers on the front line or simplifying operations behind the scenes.

Your work here isn’t just a job – it’s a mission. We all play a vital role in energising a greener, fairer future.

Mechanical Engineering Graduate

Location: Windsor, Hessle & Aberdeen and offshore

Salary £36,000 + Welcome Bonus of £3,000

Energise your career.

Your journey is just as important as ours.

All of our graduate schemes are built upon placements – meaning you’ll have the opportunity to work across a range of brands and business units, guiding teams, driving change and challenging the status quo.

We are a Flexible-First employer, which means we live and breathe a culture of trust and flexibility when it comes to where and when we work. Although we don’t have mandated office working, we would like to travel on-site regularly as we believe immersing yourself into our social and collaborative culture is vital in making the most of the opportunities we offer and will give you the best possible head start in your career.

But you won’t be doing it alone. With a network of buddies, mentors, and experienced line managers ready and waiting to support – we’re with you every step of the way.

We want to invest in your future so you can help re-write ours.

Mechanical Engineering

As the UK’s largest integrated energy company, when we say we can give you an experience like no other, we really mean it! Our diverse portfolio of assets will expose you to a unique and wide-ranging set of activities and opportunities – making this the perfect place to launch your career in engineering.

Engineers are at the heart of developing, operating, upgrading and/or decommissioning all of Centrica’s energy asset portfolio. This portfolio includes the largest gas store in the UK, offshore and onshore gas production assets and Net Zero projects including solar, battery and hydrogen technologies. Our graduate scheme will immerse you in the engineering behind these assets, supporting dynamic teams in both technical and project functions.

The engineering scheme is accredited by The Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) and consists of three 12-month placements. These placements include both technical mechanical engineering and more general project roles across Centrica. Our roles are at various sites including Windsor, Hessle, Aberdeen and offshore, with some requiring colleagues to be in-person and others offering hybrid working.

Here's what we need from you:

  • Expecting a 1st degree in a suitable mechanical (or closely related) engineering discipline, accredited by the relevant engineering institution (or a 2:1 with Masters)

  • In possession of a full UK driving licence, as you may be required to travel to remote locations

  • Willing to relocate

  • Have the right to work in the UK

  • Available to start the programme on 30th September 2025

We’re a people place

We’re building a workplace where everyone feels they can belong – and we’re looking for people to add to this culture, not fit in with it. We know that every voice matters, and every new perspective makes us more empathetic and reflective of the 10 million customers we serve.

You are welcome here for who you are, no matter how you see the world, how you express yourself or the journey you’ve been on to get here. It’s our differences that will give us the power to revolutionise the future of our planet.

With 13 different colleague networks, there’s space to find your community, beyond the graduate sphere.

Here’s what's in it for you:

As an Energiser, you get a bumper reward package bursting with benefits including huge discounts on your energy bills and our British Gas & Hive products. Plus, you can choose from loads of extras to add in if you’d like to. Whether it’s a brand-new electric car, a gym membership, or extra days off. Our rewards are designed to give you the choice of benefits that support both you and your loved ones, making sure that you’re covered no matter what life throws your way.

Oh, and if that wasn’t enough, each year we give every colleague a chunk of free Centrica shares, as part of our group-wide profit share scheme. We’re all about making things fair. That’s why every single colleague receives exactly the same benefits, no matter who you are.

Are you ready?

If you're full of energy, fired up about sustainability, and ready to craft not only a better tomorrow, but a better you, then come and find your purpose in a team where your voice matters, your growth is non-negotiable, and your ambitions are our priority.
