About your team:

You’ll be working centrally within our mission control room, aka Centrica’s group functions. From Finance and Data Science, to our Wellbeing and People teams - this is the engine of our energy system, where our various Centres of Excellence power up each of our brilliant businesses, ensuring they have all the support, technologies, and capabilities they need to get our customers to Net Zero by 2050.

An opportunity to play your part – Join Centrica as an Innovation Developer Lead, where you’ll spearhead technical innovation and prototype development! Lead a talented team of Innovation Developers as you rapidly explore and validate cutting-edge technologies and solutions. In this exciting role, you’ll establish best practices for proof-of-concept projects, focusing on AI and emerging technologies, all while aligning with Centrica’s innovation strategy and architectural standards.

What to expect -

  • Lead and mentor a team of Innovation Developers.
  • Establish technical standards and best practices for rapid prototyping.
  • Drive the development of technical capabilities within the innovation team.
  • Foster a culture of experimentation and continuous learning.
  • Create a framework for evaluating and adopting new technologies.
  • Oversee the technical delivery of proof-of-concepts and minimum viable products (MVPs).
  • Guide architectural decisions for innovation projects.
  • Ensure the technical feasibility of proposed solutions.
  • Balance the speed of delivery with technical quality.
  • Collaborate with the Design Lead to align technical and user experience objectives.
  • Evaluate and experiment with emerging technologies for potential applications.
  • Define the technical approach for proof-of-concepts.
  • Establish reusable technical components and patterns.
  • Guide integration with existing Centrica systems.
  • Ensure compliance with security and regulatory requirements.
  • Partner with business units to understand their technical requirements and architecture.
  • Present technical solutions to senior leadership.
  • Build relationships with technology vendors and partners.
  • Share technical insights and learnings across the Digital Technology Services team.
