Overview

British Gas Business (BGB) is the leading provider of energy to SMEs in the UK and is focused on helping its customers use energy simply, sustainably and affordably. In this brand new role, sitting on the BGB leadership team, you will lead on data strategy, quality, governance, compliance and data analytics for our business customers, transforming our capabilities and driving innovation to enable data as a competitive advantage.

There will be some UK travel with this role.

The Role

You will get to build and drive the data strategy for British Gas Business to maximise the potential of our data asset and turn it into a source of competitive advantage.

To do this you will need to define and lead the data governance framework, develop, and implement policies to ensure compliance and proactively review changes in future legislation and regulations. You’ll drive quality in our data operations and collaborate with our Technology functions to deliver market-leading platforms & infrastructure to appropriately store, transform, and enable data to be effectively used by the business.

Transforming and developing our capabilities for data analysis you will be a thought leader on developing new modelling and data science techniques to drive innovation in our business. You’ll lead the development of a data-first culture with a focus on understanding the customer through our data and how we can use our data to drive continuous improvement and market-leading customer experience.

Lastly, you’ll get the chance to build a best-in-class Management Information (MI) and Business Intelligence (BI) team to support you and project needs.

The Person

You’ll be an experienced data and data analytics people leader with extensive knowledge of developing data strategy at scale in line with regulations. You have also been involved in implementations of that strategy supported by governance frameworks in large, complex organisations.

You can demonstrate previous transformations of data/analytics functions, building and leading teams along with influencing senior stakeholders. A track record of understanding data analytics and modelling including the latest methods and tools is critical.

Lastly, you have experience turning data into actionable stories and its effective use to drive organisational change and superb customer outcomes ideally gained in a customer focussed environment.
