About your team:

You’ll be working centrally within our mission control room, aka Centrica’s group functions. From Finance and Data Science, to our Wellbeing and People teams - this is the engine of our energy system, where our various Centres of Excellence power up each of our brilliant businesses, ensuring they have all the support, technologies, and capabilities they need to get our customers to Net Zero by 2050.

About your role:

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Finance Partner to join our Finance team. The role will play an important part in supporting the PH Jones Leadership Team on all financial matters, and to evolve PH Jones into a sustainable, profitable business in the long term. As well as partnering with commercial teams on new business, you will support the wider finance team and business by providing robust, insight and analysis to drive improvements in financial performance. You will also be a key stakeholder in driving the strategic direction of the business. This is a permanent full time position, offering Company Benefits and an Employee Energy Allowance and discount on HIVE products.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Provide financial review and challenge to new business opportunities including review of new commercial contracts to ensure the maximum value is being generated and profit margins are understood
  • Support the strategic review process, including driving the annual strategic shape inputs for the PH Jones business
  • Provide regular key stakeholder briefings
  • Regularly review and report performance against Group Annual Plan & latest forecast, working with the business to analyse financial and operational (value driver) variances and recommend corrective action
  • Maintaining a live risks and opportunities view of the business, helping the business to mitigate the risks and deliver the opportunities
  • Carry out non-standard / bespoke analysis to support business decision making
  • Input into trade union engagement as required, including annual pay negotiations
  • Support M&A activity as required
  • Support a culture of continuous improvement and growth

Here's what we’re looking for:

  • Previous relevant experience within finance is essential
  • Qualified accountant is essential
  • Finance partnering experience is essential
  • Commercial finance experience required
  • Demonstrates high attention to detail and is methodical and systematic in approach
  • Able to communicate and collaborate effectively with the team, and the wider business
  • Experience of taking responsibility and holding full accountability
  • Excellent organisational skills, and capable of working to tight deadlines
  • Excellent influencing skills, able to challenge and change others’ perceptions about problems and issues
  • Analytical thinker, with problem solving skills
  • Able to identify and pursue new ideas, solutions, methods, and opportunities
  • Understanding of bid models, desirable
