We have a great opportunity for a Controls, Electrical and Instrumentation Engineer (Reliability). This role is responsible for CE&I reliability engineering. The reliability engineering function provides asset / product reliability engineering support for the existing fleet of assets under operations and maintenance and providing up front engineering diligence to assess proposed suppliers and products prior to being incorporated into proposals.
The Role:
Reliability Engineering:
- Assessing asset performance through telematics data, working with Customer Operations Centre team
- Providing root cause analysis (RCA) support to disseminate engineering outcomes required to improve asset performance
- Working with Systems and CEI reliability engineers to design engineering packages
- Providing FAT support to prove designs, including visits to site for SAT
Product and Integration Engineering:
- Assess proposed products, considering their compliance, performance and integration in consideration for them to be incorporated into new schemes
- Responsible for ensuring that all stages of the product and integration assessment process are completed
The Person Requirements:
- Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of the design requirements and related challenges in a manufacturing setting associated with mechanical, electrical and software challenges. An understanding of the requirements of the prime mover and its relationship to the rest of the design and service.
- Design: Ability to lead a team to produce detailed, practical and effective designs for our customers in
- Attention to detail: Design and check designs to a high level to detail
- Cross Functional Communication: Be able to appreciate how your element of the design interacts internal to product but also externally with our clients. Put systems in place to formalise communications lines
Broader Competencies:
- Proactive and collaborative self-starter with a high level of problem-solving skills
- High level of numeracy skills
- Sound communication & presentation skills
- Awareness of British and International Standards
- Awareness of H&S legislation including any site-specific regulations
- UK building regulations and relevant standards
- Commercial Acumen e.g. ability to balance design, customer and commercial outcomes to decisions and coaches others to build capability in the function
- Demonstrates commitment to CPD, external networking and is a thought leader
- Strong technical skills in energy efficient systems with direct experience of delivering energy saving projects
- Boiler house / plantroom and/or district heat design experience preferred
- A proven track record on technically leading the design of projects and delivering to agreed deadlines
- Ability to articulate complex solutions to non-technical people
- Vast experience in the power/energy delivery market
- Good time management skills with track record of project/design delivery to plan
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD, EPLan and MS Office
- Understand of the commercial aims and objectives of distributed energy
