Continuous Improvement & Automation Leader

Leicester / Flexible UK Locations with FlexFirst hybrid working

We’re looking for a brilliant Continuous Improvement & Automation Leader to join our team of colleagues in British Gas Business, that together are setting the standard in energy supply.

In the complicated world of energy, we strive to make energy simple, creating a straightforward and hassle-free experience for our customers.

Our philosophy is success comes when we’re in it together, trusting each other and having fun along the way. And because we’ve got big plans to help our homes and businesses get closer to net zero, we can’t stand still. We need to be always learning, ready to grow and move forward.

This role is a key position within the Continuous Improvement team responsible for the delivery of change across multiple disciplines and initiatives across British Gas Business – Energy Supply. You will be part of the BGB Change & Delivery team. You will play an important role in supporting the development of a sustainable change culture through the embedding of Continuous Improvement methodology and Distributed Capability Model, to deliver ongoing business-led process and system transformation. You will be a key enabler to all levels to upskill, coach and empower the BGB team to continuously improve their processes for our people and our customers.

You will be expected to work in the office at least once a month along with attending workshops at UK locations as required. We are open to compressed weekly hours for this position i.e. 4 day week.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Engaging with key business stakeholders to build a continuous improvement environment that supports an ongoing programme of change.

  • Driving better value and greater efficiency through the identification and elimination of unnecessary complexity in business processes and ways of working.

  • Delivering coaching on continuous improvement tools and methodologies in line with agreed frameworks for managers and leaders as well as supporting the upskill within the Continuous Improvement team.

  • Leading and facilitating Service/Process improvement-based workshops to drive ideas and solutions, utilising support from across the BGB teams.

  • Elicit requirements and drive process change using a variety of methods such as colleague interviews, document analysis, requirements workshops, surveys, site visits, business process descriptions, business analysis and workflow analysis.

  • Collaborate across Change and Delivery, the wider BGB ES team to create new support material based on the revised processes, to include training, reporting, benefits tracking and systems enhancements.

  • Working collaboratively on end to end process and journey analysis across operational areas as necessary.

  • Building Power Platform Automation capability within Continuous Improvement team to drive process automation across BGB.

You’ll have a track record of:

  • Ability to set-up, facilitate and lead service/process improvement sessions with a range of business stakeholders (incl. Experience of process/value stream mapping, KAIZEN facilitation).

  • Experience of designing and/or operating within a framework of continuous improvement in a multi-pillar organisation.

  • Experience of hands-on implementation of continuous improvement initiatives and Lean solutions.

  • Experience of designing and implementing automated solutions leveraging Power Platform Applications (Power Apps, Power Automate and Power BI).

  • Strong analytical, project and product management skills, including a thorough understanding of how to interpret business needs and translate them into operational requirements.

  • Experience of working in service organisations with ‘direct to consumer’ / B2B products/services.

  • Ability to work unsupervised and manage own agenda; self-starter and respected professional.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group of change professionals, leaders, and subject matter experts.

  • Six Sigma qualification and APM advantageous.

  • Energy supplier experience advantageous but we really are open to other industry backgrounds if you have continuous improvement experience.
