Role Purpose:

This is a new role managing the P&L for the Business Segment. This role requires a blend of entrepreneurial mindset, strong leadership skills, and an in-depth understanding of the Irish business market conditions and trends. The ultimate goal is to promote and expand the company's commercial business activity to generate revenue, margin that leads to sustainable growth through the lens of supporting businesses as the decarbonise on their journey to net zero.

About the Role:

  • Responsible for the B2B P&L, delivering revenue, margin and customer numbers, whilst managing business operating costs.
  • Accountable for performance sales, retention, product penetration and the profitability of the business segment.
  • Financial oversight for setting financial targets and budget development and monitoring key metrics of performance of commercial activities to plan.
  • Develop and execute the commercial strategy for the business segments that will drive business growth and profitability in a competitive B2B market.
  • Create integrated customer propositions that include energy and service/solutions to enable businesses to realize their net zero ambitions.
  • Develop value propositions for strategic or large, complex customer and identify opportunities in specific industries or other defined market segments utilising the full portfolio of energy products and services available from Bord Gais and our parent Centrica.
  • Utilize knowledge and understanding of the customer's business to develop customized proposals that present creative solutions that successfully sell the organization's capabilities.
  • Work closely with other departments, such as product, operations, marketing, and finance, to identify new business opportunities and build long-term relationships with key accounts.
  • Engage with Centrica B2B teams to share and learn best practise.
  • Manage and drive the relationship with our third-party business field sales team to ensure they are fulfilling their contract obligations and selling into businesses on behalf of Bord Gais Business.
  • Cultivate relationships with the Brokers channel to ensure the relationship is managed and the customer base and new sales are maintained as per contract and in line with governance process.
  • Manage and nurture relationships with both new and existing business clients to secure new business and solidify relationships for long term retention.
  • Build strong lasting relationships with key senior-level decision makers and influencers to understand the customers’ requirements and match with energy solutions that closes the deal.
  • Oversee the sales team, providing guidance and support to ensure they meet their targets and deliver exceptional customer service.
  • Work closely with the pricing team to ensure business pricing is accurate and that demand is forecasted in line with plan and the output is provided to trading.
  • In collaboration with the pricing manager and finance develop pricing strategies and business models that maximize profitability while remaining competitive in the business marketplace.
  • Working collaboratively with the wholesale, service/solutions team to prepare tenders for large clients to ensure best margin is achieved and the full portfolio is presented to the customer.
  • Working with Marketing to establish a business brand that is seen as a trusted business partner and advisor for energy products and services.
  • Lead the net zero charge for business customers and identify opportunities for carbon emission reductions linking in directly with the technical teams to support all proposals.
  • Manage a product team that collaborates cross-functional teams to design, develop, and launch new products that are insight led and customer centric.
  • Working with sales and marketing teams to develop product positioning, messaging, and go-to-market strategies.
  • Manage the product development process from ideation to launch, ensuring timely delivery of products to market.
  • Conducting research and analysis to create detailed business plans on commercial opportunities.
  • Maximise the use of data to ensure there is an in-depth understanding of the customer base, its segments and opportunities so that decisions are data driven and insight led.
  • Understanding the dynamics of the business market in Ireland, key accounts, industries and categories that will drive future growth for the company.

About you:

  • A strong background in business development, sales, and marketing
  • A proven track record of success in a B2B environment.
  • Prior experience in the energy industry desired.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills, and the ability to think strategically and analytically.
  • Deep understanding of the market trends, customer needs, and competitive landscape, and use this knowledge to create and implement effective commercial plans.
  • Results-oriented, innovative, and collaborative leader.
