What You’ll Be Doing:

As part of the Document Handling team, you’ll be at the forefront of developing cutting-edge solutions that empower our users to seamlessly integrate and manage documents within the Camunda Platform 8 ecosystem.

As part of the team you will:

  • Drive Impactful Development: Be part of the enhancement of document management capabilities on Camunda 8, making a tangible difference for our users.
  • Backend Mastery: Develop, own, and optimize our Java backend and REST APIs, ensuring they are robust, scalable, and maintainable.
  • Innovate & Implement Features: Take ownership of designing and implementing features, bringing your ideas to life with the support and collaboration of the team. You'll have the autonomy to innovate while contributing to complex projects, with guidance from senior engineers to help you succeed.
  • Collaborate Cross-Functionally: Work closely with Product Management and other engineers to scope, implement, and review changes, ensuring we deliver high-quality solutions.

Empowered Decision-Making: You’ll have the freedom to make decisions while having the support of a collaborative team.

What You Bring:

  1. Professional Experience: A minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience as a Java Backend Engineer, with a strong knowledge of Spring Boot, JUnit, and REST API development in a professional software environment.
  2. Technical Ownership: A strong drive to understand, develop, and take full ownership of the Java backend for the Camunda Platform, ensuring high-quality, maintainable, and scalable code.
  3. Autonomous & Collaborative Mindset: A proactive "Manager-of-one" attitude, taking initiative in managing your responsibilities while collaborating effectively with Product Management, SRE, and Engineering teams from scoping through to deployment. You seek support and input from teammates when necessary but thrive on self-direction.
  4. Remote Work Proficiency: Ability to excel in a remote work environment, using written communication to provide regular status updates, document key decisions, and deliver work in small, iterative increments.
  5. Ability and/or willingness to use our product

Nice-to-haves;

  • Documentation Skills: Ability to write clear, concise, and user-friendly documentation, making it easier for other developers and stakeholders to understand and use the system.
  • Google Cloud Platform (GCP) Expertise: Familiarity with Google Cloud Platform, including deploying, managing, and scaling Java applications in a cloud-native environment.
  • SRE & SaaS Operations: Understanding of Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) principles and practices, particularly in managing and running SaaS applications, ensuring high availability, performance, and scalability.
  • Open-Source Contributions: A history of contributing to open-source projects, particularly in the Java or backend development communities, demonstrating a commitment to continuous learning and community engagement.
  • Business Process Management (BPM) Knowledge: Awareness of Business Process Management (BPM) concepts and experience with BPM tools, particularly in the context of automation and workflow management.

Compensation

For external hires, we consider the skills and experience of the incoming candidate, but typically place candidates in the first half of the range to ensure ample room for growth over the entire lifecycle of the role.

Below is the annual Total Target Cash Compensation (Total Cash) range for Camundi located in one of our entities. Total Cash refers to base salary and 100% attainment of variable target, where applicable. Actual Total Cash offered will depend on factors such as skills and qualifications related to the role. To comprise the Total Rewards package, Camunda also offers equity (where applicable) in the form of a Virtual Employee Stock Option Plan and benefits based on the country of residence.

The annual Total Cash range for this position for Camundi in our entities is as follows:

  • United States: $105,600.00 to $158,400.00
  • Germany: €70,300.00 to €105,400.00
  • United Kingdom: ÂŁ68,500.00 to ÂŁ102,700.00
  • Singapore: S$131,200.00 to S$196,800.00

If you are outside one of these countries, you would be employed by our Preferred Employer Organization (PEO), Remote.
