Job Description

📣 A Bit About The Role.

Butternut Box is looking for a dynamic, target-driven leader with a passion for sales. As our Direct Sales Manager for our Dutch market, you’ll lead a team of Brand Ambassadors attending hundreds of events throughout the year, telling customers about all the benefits of Butternut Box and selling our subscription to them. We are looking for someone that can quickly embed themselves within the team and lead them into an ambitious growth year. In this entrepreneurial role, you’ll lead from the front, foster a great team culture and inspire peak performance. Striving for better and excellent communication skills are paramount. As we grow rapidly, this role will be filled with further growth opportunities in the years to come.

📅 What will my week look like?

Your role combines analysis, reporting, and team guidance. You’ll set priorities, coach Brand Ambassadors, and ensure they’re motivated to achieve high-quality sales. Weekly, you’ll review performance, define action plans and launch initiatives to drive results, hold 1:1s with Brand Ambassadors and lead training sessions. In your role, you will lead from the front, selling in the field on a weekly basis whilst your team matures, allowing you to step out of the field. Your regular work week is Thursday to Monday, aligning with our biggest event days over the weekend. Over time, you could move into a Mo-Fri role based on the leadership you create within your team to cover weekends.

You’ll report to our Head of Sales Benelux, who built the Netherlands market from scratch. You’ll lead a team of 20 Brand Ambassadors and 3-4 Shift Supervisors, driving performance across Events, Pop-ups, and Shopping Centres. Next to this, you’ll collaborate with our Event Manager and People team, and you’ll be a member of our vibrant 25-person office team in the heart of Amsterdam (Vijzelgracht).

👋 A Bit About You.

  • You have a passion for sales and hitting targets, and for DOGS đŸ¶ Woof!
  • You have multiple years of relevant experience in (Direct / Field / Events) sales, ideally in a D2C industry
  • You’re a native Dutch speaker, and fluent in English
  • You have a proven record of leading sales teams (with 3+ members) to success and a talent for identifying the next sales talents
  • You drive hands-on leadership with a focus on core KPIs and enjoy diving into the numbers to get a good grasp on your performance (through tools like Excel)
  • You’re a strong communicator, comfortable communicating across all business levels
  • You’re calm under pressure, a go-to support for your team when times get tough
  • You’re proactive, with a ‘let’s get it done’ attitude.
  • You have a full driver’s licence, and you’re willing to work during weekends for at least the first 6 months in the role (you’ll get Tuesdays and Wednesdays off in return)
