Job Description

Management Accountant

Doncaster

Full-Time - Fixed Term Contract (Maternity Cover)

šŸ“£A bit about the role.

Weā€™re looking for a hard-working, ambitious and skilled Management Accountant to join our Operations Finance team based at our manufacturing & fulfilment site near Doncaster.

The core challenge of this team is to drive day-to-day focus on operational costs through targeted performance reporting and real time business partnering. Responsible for the numbers coming out of the facility, Operations Finance oversees the controls around core cost inputs such as stock movements, direct labour utilisation and factory overheads whilst also helping to ensure the appropriate return on investment on CAPEX. Success here means consistently bringing about incremental improvement in our numbers by spotlighting sources of slippage, unlocking insight-backed opportunities and surfacing potential risks that may derail the siteā€™s numbers from hitting plan so they can be effectively mitigated.

Reporting into the Finance Manager, but working closely with both the wider Finance team and management on site at our Rudies Kitchen, Monday - Friday. Located in Blyth, Doncaster (just off the Junction of A1(M) and A614 Hill Top Roundabout, Blyth S81 8HG).

In this role, you can expect to:

  • Play a key part in the delivery of the factory P&L.
  • Preparation and analysis of weekly operational performance for the site (waste, labour /KG, PPV, overheads, stock, CAPEX), to drive consistent improvement across the teams, such that they outperform budgeted expectations
  • Preparation of periodic P&L and balance sheet reconciliations, for review by the Finance Manager, along with variance analysis.
  • Completion of period end tasks, including journals, accruals & prepayments, ensuring timely and accurate completion of deliverables.
  • Work closely with operations to manage the standard costing process, both budget and quarterly re-forecasts
  • Support the Finance Manager on the annual & half yearly budget process for the site
  • Build strong and effective business partnerships across the wider operations teams
  • Complete detailed analysis and cost modelling to drive cost reduction initiatives across the business
  • Assisting with ad hoc analysis and supporting various finance driven projects.

šŸ‘‹A bit about you.

  • Qualified CIMA / ACCA / ACA or equivalent.
  • Experience within a Manufacturing, Retail or FMCG environment will be hugely beneficial.
  • SAP/SAP B1 experience desirable.
  • Strong communicator & collaborator who is able to influence decision-making & outcomes for the better with effective use of data.
  • Entrepreneurial 'can doā€™ attitude with exceptional attention to detail ā€“ our volumes are on a trajectory of doubling each year so an agile mindset will be key.
  • Obsessed with dogs!

šŸ¶ A bit about us.

At Butternut, the mission is to deliver health and happiness to dogs and their humans all over the world. In order to do just that, we need a squad of forward-thinking, driven people who love dogs as much as we do. And we need quite a big kitchen too. Which is precisely why we have built one.

Located in Doncaster, Rudieā€™s Kitchen & Aceā€™s Pantry is the place where all the magic happens, so to speak. It's where the tasty Butternut meals are gently cooked, using human-quality ingredients because, the way we see it, they wouldn't serve food to dogs that they wouldn't be happy to eat themselves. At Butternut, we believe dogs deserve better, and if that's something you think too, we want to hear from you.

Butternut has come a long way since Kev & Dave (co-founders) hand-delivered the first Butternut Box, and we are now looking for brilliant people to join the team for this next part of the story.

Are you up for the challenge?
