The role involves collaborating with customers and senior BT stakeholders, providing confidence in BT's design and delivery capabilities. Continuous learning and a focus on business simplification are key to driving the modernization of BT’s offerings, ensuring that every solution delivered is reliable and enhances the customer experience—because everything works better on BT.

What you’ll be doing

The Solutions Architect independently executes a range of workstreams in delivering the overall solution architecture design and mapping of business requirements, as well as organises smooth project delivery empowering the implementation of functional solutions that are fit for purpose and delivered against stated business requirements. Working collaboratively in an office and remote environment to help deliver world class service for our customers.

Typically, assignment complexity will be Lead architect on BT Business complex bids with a TOV up to £100 m that are in multiple and complex geographies. Operating in challenging environments with new or non-standard components, complex combinations of portfolio and custom elements and non-standard SLAs

  • Delivers innovative, repeatable solution architectures that address complex technical challenges, meeting customer requirements and driving positive outcomes, while facilitating business stakeholders' understanding of the transformative power of group products, services, and technology.
  • Guides partnerships with business and operational stakeholders to conduct technical and business discovery, while driving a culture of knowledge enhancement within the solutions architect team by improving methodologies, customer-facing materials, and mentoring team members as a technical resource

  • Contributes to thought leadership by providing expert advice on specific technologies, helping senior leadership shape the long-term direction of solution architecture strategy, while delivering complex, strategic initiatives that align with the company's overall commercial strategy.

  • Implements robust recommendations, proposals, and scope of work documents for group engagements while also identifying critical dependencies and gaps

  • Act as the technical expert on architecture governance and design authority for development of products and services in line with the published roadmap

Skills You'll Need

  • In depth understanding of the key features and functions of the products and services provided by BT Business - Particularly Voice, Contact Centre, Unified Comms related technologies
  • Develops solutions based on predefined processes, guidelines, and best practices with the objective that the developed solution fits within the enterprise architecture in terms of information architecture, system portfolios and integration requirements.
  • Verifies that solutions will meet business and operational requirements and that the solution fits into a larger architectural strategy and underlying infrastructure.
  • Identifies, evaluates, and manages risks by developing and implementing strategies, frameworks, policies, procedures, and practices.
  • Develops a compelling proposal including assessment of competitive positioning and identifying steps to be taken.
  • Learns skills relevant to position or aspirations.
  • Oversees the whole or part of a bidding process, from selecting relevant bids through to writing them.
  • Negotiation - Reaches compromise or agreement while avoiding argument and dispute.
