Job Description
Job Title: Network Specialist
Location: Ipswich / London/ Cheltenham
Competitive Salary +5k DV Bonus + 10% Pension Contributions
Due to the sensitive nature of this role you will be required to have DV (Developed Vetting) level Security Clearance (https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/united-kingdom-security-vetting-clearance-levels/national-security-vetting-clearance-levels). An allowance of £5k per annum will be payable monthly while you hold this DV and continue to work in a role that requires that level of security clearance. The terms of this allowance will be made available if you are successful in being recruited into this role.

What you’ll do:
- Provide the technical direction for the build and delivery of world class secure networks.
- Be hands on in all aspects of the design, build, deployment and support of customer facing networks.
- Maintain monitoring and observability solutions to provide excellent service via our networks and applications.
- Employ and adapt industry-leading techniques and best practices to suit security challenges.
- Guide and coach junior members of the team and peer review their work.
You’ll definitely:
- Have experience integrating networks and network management software in on-premise environments.
- Have experience in designing, building and providing third-line support for complex IP networks, that are secure, scalable, resilient, and give high performance.
- Have knowledge of network design for security, including firewall, IDS and IPS experience.
- Deliver, coordinate and prioritise activities, responding positively to challenges, using your technical expertise to support you and those around you.
- Be a collaborative partner, developing great working relationships with stakeholders, sharing knowledge and collaborating.
You might even:
- Know how to use and have experience with LAN switching in small- and medium-scale data centre and enterprise environments, maybe including experience with RSTP/MSTP, LAG, MC-LAG or SPB and first-hop resilience and security protocols.
- Have experience with and knowledge of enterprise and operator-scale routing design using protocols such as OSPF, IS-IS, BGP, LDP or RSVP.
- Have experience configuring and maintaining AAA software such as Cisco ISE
- Have exposure to Software Defined Networking principles, ideally with VMware NSX-T.
- Have experience of automation approaches, ideally with exposure to Infrastructure-as-Code tooling such as Ansible, Puppet, Chef, Terraform. Transferable experience with Cisco DNA is also welcomed.
