Principal Data Engineer

At Boomi, our vision is to harness the power of metadata by capturing the relationships and behaviors of applications and their interactions to re-imagine and reinvent the customer experience. As a Data Engineer, you will be expected to understand and investigate state-of-the-art techniques for handling large-scale data. You will design, develop, deploy and maintain data ingestion and transformation pipelines. You will develop tools for data scientists and assist with the development of solutions for business problems and product enhancements. You will have an opportunity to work with experienced engineers, scientists, and experts on challenging problems. Our ideal candidate should demonstrate how they have applied analytic disciplines in addition to having a development background. You must have strong experience using a variety of data mining/data analysis methods, using a variety of data tools, with a proven ability to drive business results with data-based insight. A good level of data modeling understanding is expected. Knowledge about privacy, data masking is a
plus.

Responsibilities/ Requirements:

  • Design, develop, and maintain ingestion mechanisms and governance for data lakes

  • Expert in managing data repositories for data warehousing, data lakes, data marts, OLAP cubes, etc

  • Expert in managing cloud-based data architecture services and frameworks, preferably on AWS and/or Snowflake

  • Research and stay up-to-date on the latest technology developments through continuous learning. Be solution-based and a champion for promising new methods.

  • Collaborate and strategize on opportunities, cross-training, and knowledge transfer.

  • Demonstrated history of driving and delivering analytics models and solutions.

  • Strong knowledge of Machine learning fundamentals, data mining, and statistical predictive modeling. Demonstrate your extensive experience applying these methods to real-world challenges

  • Able to communicate effectively with Data Scientists, AI/ML engineers, quality engineers, and management

  • Strong problem-solving skills with an emphasis on product development.

  • Strong skills in Python, SQL

  • Hands on experience using various AWS services and technologies

  • Experience in handling large scale data

  • Working knowledge of spark

Desirable Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in Analytics, Computer Science, Statistics, or a related major with 10+ years of relevant subject area experience

  • Experience working with and creating data architectures.

  • Vast knowledge of Machine learning techniques (clustering, decision tree learning, artificial neural networks, etc.) and their real-world advantages/drawbacks.

  • Strong skills in software prototyping and engineering with expertise in applicable programming and analytics languages (Python or Scala), in addition to open-source Machine learning and analytics packages to generate deliverable modules and prototype demonstrations of your work.

  • Previous experience with Big data technologies, ETL, ELT, statistics and causal inference, Deep Learning, modeling, and simulation.

  • The breadth of skills and experience in Machine learning (diverse types of data and sources, different types of learning models, diverse learning settings).

  • Ability and inclination to work in multi-disciplinary environments, and a passion for ideas realized in practice.

  • Strong analytical, written, and verbal communication skills.
