About the role

BMT Canada is recruiting for a Senior Engineer, who has knowledge and experience covering the full submarine lifecycle, to join our experienced team.

In this role you will support the International Submarine Program Manager to manage activities, delivery projects and provide technical knowledge within the scope of their program.

This role includes the long-term (recuring minimum 6 month) deployment at one of our overseas client sites, providing technical leadership and oversight to a team of experienced engineers and technologists.

Specifically, tasks you will perform include,

· reviewing, preparing and providing briefs at all levels (internal to BMT and to the client),

· delivering presentations to stakeholders,

· identification of technical and program risks,

· development of work schedules,

· providing engineering design and construction advice and consultancy,

· participating in multi-disciplinary project teams in support of client taskings.

· proactively interact with clients, developing a thorough understanding of their needs, and work to exceed expectations,

· ensuring all work is undertaken in accordance with the project statement of work and is checked in accordance with the relevant project and/or BMT Quality Procedure,

· utilizing knowledge of domain specific standards

· providing Technical Assurance (TA) of deliverables or providing guidance and advice to others doing these TA activities, and

· providing leadership to the BMT team by:

o Contributing to the objectives and direction of the International Submarine program and positively and actively supporting the decisions of the management team,

o Freely sharing information and mutually supporting other BMT staff to optimize the overall success of BMT Canada,

o Contributing to a culture of operational and technical excellence,

o Motivating staff and creating an environment where they can ask questions and voice their concerns,

o Being transparent with the team about challenges, failures, and successes, and

o Working with the team to inspire them to reach their goals.

While not on deployment you will be required to execute work in support of other client taskings.

About You

We are looking for enthusiastic and flexible team members, who possess the following knowledge, experience, and skills:

Essential:

• Minimum 15 years of experience in a marine engineering environment.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in a submarine engineering environment.
• Experience within complex maritime design programs.
• Experience in systems integration, ship construction and/or repair.
• Experience leading teams within a maritime program.
• An understanding of standards for government and commercial vessels.
• Experience working in the Defence industry, preferable shipbuilding, or ship repair environment.
• Ability to manage and lead peers without direct authority.
• Ability to influence and earn the respect of clients.
• Proficient user of Microsoft 365 suite of projects (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Task Boards, Teams).

Desirable:

• Provincial licence for practicing as a Professional Engineer.
• Eligible for a Canadian security clearance.

Salary Range

120,000 - 145,000
