About the role
Join our Asset Performance team where you'll work with a range of specialists to tackle engineering asset management challenges from start to finish. Our work blends high-level consultancy with unmatched engineering insights to solve critical business problems.
As a Principal ILS Consultant, you'll play a key role in bidding activities, help grow the capabilities of our team, and lend your ILS expertise across multiple projects. Your initial focus will be on managing our ILS package for the MOD's Fleet Solid Support (FSS) programme, in partnership with Navantia. You'll be the main point of contact for ILS communications between Navantia and the MOD, ensuring everything runs smoothly and meets the required standards.
You'll handle progress reports, manage risks, lead presentations and meetings, and provide technical guidance to our team and senior stakeholders.
Ideally, you're based in Bristol/Bath or Fareham, but we're open to flexible and hybrid working arrangements. Travel to customer sites in the UK and Spain for face-to-face meetings will be required. This is a full-time position.
What You'll Do:
The following provides a non-exhaustive indication as to the expectations for the core of this role;
- Work as part of the core ILS management team in support of ILS communications within the business.
- Support BMT in its management of ILS contractual requirements.
- Oversee the programme specific ILS Statements of Work.
- Plan and manage the ILS acceptance process for various ILS based programmes.
- Keep track of the overall ILS schedule for respective programmes.
- Report on progress and risk management.
- Develop and manage ILS management plans with subject matter experts (SMEs).
- Lead presentations and contribute to various project meetings.
- Provide senior assurance to the BMT ILS Team.
- Support in the development of our junior ILS resource through training and knowledge share.
About You:
We're looking for a proactive Principal Consultant with:
- A deep understanding of UK MoD ILS Policy and Processes.
- Technical awareness in design and safety.
- Strong relationships with senior stakeholders.
- Commercial acumen including budgeting, risk management, and scheduling.
- Team management skills and experience on major UK maritime projects.
- Excellent technical authorship.
You should also have:
- A track record of successful project delivery.
- Experience leading technical teams.
- Strong analytical and presentation skills.
- The ability to build constructive relationships.
- A BEng degree or equivalent qualification and 5 years of experience in a technical engineering discipline.
- Membership in a UK engineering institution is valued.
