About the role
Due to several exciting opportunities, we are looking for Graduates to join our Marine Engineering team as part of BMTs UK & Europe Region. As a graduate, you can expect to receive training from our experienced employees and we will support you with your professional journey towards achieving Chartered status.
We are looking for graduates who have the following;
- A relevant degree such as Marine Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, etc.
- An interest to work within the Maritime domain;
- Excellent communication and team building skills;
- Pride in their work and a desire to deliver a first-class service to our clients;
- The determination to further their career and gain Chartered Engineer status.
Working as a Marine Engineer in this technical consultancy focused role will provide you the opportunity to be involved in a wide variety of projects and research, with the ability to influence your training and project experience to find a path that you find great personal and professional satisfaction with. As a graduate, you can expect to receive training from our experienced Engineers, who are also keen to support you on your journey towards professional qualification and paper publication where appropriate.
This is a hybrid role, where you can work from home and be based from either our Bath or Bristol offices. Depending on projects needs you will be expected to travel to customer sites and BMT offices from time to time.[NH1]
What is the Graduate Programme?
As a BMT graduate, you will be part of an exciting 2-year development programme that will equip you with the knowledge, skills and experience that you will need to propel your career to the next level. You will be paired with a mentor who will support your development within BMT and you will receive a tailored training programme.
BMT partner and have close relationships with many of the professional institutions so if Chartership is a route that you are interested in, we will support you by paying the membership fees for your chosen institution and you will receive a chartership mentor who will help support you with your application.
About you
We are looking for pro-active, keen and committed graduate engineers to join our talented and dynamic team of Marine Engineers who work across a range of technical projects, helping solve our customers’ problems and delivering them innovative, bespoke solutions. Working alongside our clients, we develop designs for both new build and existing vessels (Ships and Submarines) as well as helping them to manage their in-service support requirements, working with new and emergent technologies to provide solutions that are fit for today and into the future.
We are seeking engineers with an interest in maritime platforms; your degree may have a marine focus, but we are very willing to consider mechanical and electrical based degrees from across a range of backgrounds. We are especially keen to hear from you if you are studying an Electrical or Electro-Mechanical based degree, which includes study of Electrical Power Generation and Distribution, AC and DC Electrical Architectures, and Complex Control Systems.
